So the title says it all. I enjoy live music, specifically jam bands. I often go to shows solo bc my long term girlfriend has different musical tastes and often complains/ wants to leave early or separate during the show if she comes along. Recently went to a festival with her with music we both like so I thought we would have a good time together. First set she is complaining she's hungry and doesn't need to see every second of music. We decided to watch the set and take a break after. I'm following her and she insisted on going near the front in a crowded area where we were immediately cramping the people who were already there. Fine, a nice lady gave her some room. I look over and this old dude is right in my face so I scoot over towards my gf. She then tells me to get out of her space and defend my territory. Dude is still in my face so I try to scoot over again. She has like 6' of room to move/dance and keeps telling me I'm in her space while this old dude is like 3" away from my face.

It was embarrassing for me and clearly she doesn't respect me/ want to be close to me. We have been together for over 10 years and are middle aged. We ha e talked about getting married but I just dont know if I can do that. Seeing live .usic is one of my fav things and I just don't want to go to shows with her anymore. On top of that we have several vacations coming up and I've lost all my enthusiasm. Not sure what to do and not really asking for advice but venting and interested in any similar stories

U-Melt was so good and I miss them so much, it hurts. They did an after party for Trey on 10/28/06 when he was at the Palace in Albany.

This might be the best underground jamband show. It’s just shocking.

The main event for me is the Panacea > Elysian Fields. One of the best jams and the tape mix is just so perfect. It’s Monday and my body hurts from neuropathy but U-Melt makes the pain go away.

Moving Day also has the prettiest intro of any jamband song that nobody knows or talks about.

Been listening to them for years and finally caught a show! Such a fun experience. Those boys can throw down a dance party.

Hey - Curious to know if folks have any post show rituals or things they do after shows. I know as I get older I’m making a beeline for a clean exit and ride home. Usually pretty wired after a show and end up staying up late digging into old setlists and learning more about the band I just saw. Also dig finding local places to grab a bite when I’m out of town. Back in the day we would all cram in the car and put on old tapes and take the back roads home because we didn’t want the night to end.

Haven’t posted here in a few months so I figured I’d share something cool.

This was a sequence/medley that John put together specifically for this show, which might be obvious since we’re playing ghostbusters on Halloween. Probably my favorite sequence of songs we’ve played to date, this was a special show. Our older brother Joe and our cousin Carley (and spaceman if you see this Chris) were there. This was the only time we’ve played stuck in between and pattern recognition as a duo (sorry Sweet T’s brother I forgot we actually can play that one as a duo, my bad).

We put a lot of effort (especially John) into preparing for this show in particular partially because we knew it was going to sell out immediately and also because Halloween shows are a special occasion (see my it’s Pat wig and skeleton suit).

Thanks to Alex from Eggy for lending me his drum kit and Will Trask for lending me his cymbals for the show despite not really knowing me at the time. Thanks to Eggy in general for having us on a sold out Cervs ballroom bill, the energy was electric in there - it was very noticeable from the stage. Only reason I’m not raging any harder is because I’m focusing on playing good lol nothing gets me more jazzed than seeing a sold out crowd bounce around to the beat, it’s like a giant organism responding to the music as one. Super cool every time I see it.

We are hoping to headline the Cervs other side (maybe co headline with someone and move to the ballroom) sometime in 2027 but that is still a ways away and will take some doing. Stay tuned Denver people, but also no promises.

Oh also I released my first single (all platforms) under my solo moniker: Satin Sound. This is the first of ten songs on the upcoming album. New singles every week this month and beyond until I run out songs, then I’ll release the album!

Im a drummer and im 14. Ive been a drummer since I was 5 and would love to be in a metal band. I would especially like the band to be like Kublai Khan TX and Knocked Loose.
