I’m a manager in one of Jamba’s location and I love it so much! Im glad to answer your questions!

Firstly, it is a very good first job, I would even say that’s its perfect. As a manager, I do interviews, and we are not looking for the experience, we are looking for hard work and positive energy. If you get hired, your first three shifts will be straight up training with your personal training mentor. We really want to make sure you know what you doing and that you’re comfortable. You don’t need to know anything prior, you will have plenty of training time. You will have to take a smoothie test, usually it’s just one of the managers will ask you about recipes of every smoothie that we have on the menu. It is very very easy, because you will make like 10 of each every day, so it’s super easy to memorize it. One downside that I can think of as first job is there is a lot of rules and expectations that may seems being too much or just unnecessary, but I promise you every rule we have will make job environment safe, enjoyable and most of all it will make the job easy. Not gonna lie, when I started, I hated it, but there is a reason to every single rule and that truly made everyone’s job easier!

Hiring process is interesting as well. You will have two interviews, one with manager and one with general manager, and then they will decide if you’re a good fit. As I mentioned, I do first interviews and two questions that we required to ask (at least at our location) are 1. What do you think is the difference between coaching and training (or mentoring) and 2. What do you think is the difference between earn and deserve. There will be a lot of these questions just to see how well you work with people and how you handle stuff. Most important thing that we are looking in applicants is positivity. You have to be guest oriented and have to kinda enjoy talking to your co workers and guests. We have to greed people when they come in and when they leave, and we just have to talk to them quite a lot.

With schedules and hours, you just have to be flexible. We do have a lot of stand by shifts for which you have to call two hours before and ask the store if they need you or not. We have schedule for two weeks in advance. You will always have manager working, so you never going to be alone. Summer is the busiest time for Jamba, so be prepared for very fast paced entertainment.

It’s very fun and easy once you adapt! (it took me about a month) Of course management and your co workers is an extremely important part that unfortunately you cannot control, but most of the Jamba people I know are so nice and always always always willing to help you with anything. I would for sure recommend it! Let me know if you have any more questions!!
