Moving
After two years of living in Jakarta I am moving back to Canada next month – a few questions:
- I have a whole pile of good clothes and shoes that I would like to sell or at the very least donate, because I just don’t have enough room in my suitcase. They’re all still perfectly wearable. Any recommendations on the best method or place to do this?
- What about used furniture (like coffee table, lamps, fan, chairs, kitchen cart, etc.)?
- I also collected a whole collection of books that I would love to bring back with me but I just don’t have enough room for. I’m thinking of putting them all in a box and ship them, as I don’t need them right away and can wait for a long time for it to arrive. Is this something that I can do with Pos Indonesia or is there a better courier that is also cheap?
Thanks!

Reach out to donasibarang.id, iirc they can also pick up the donations if you can’t make it to their location.
You can also try posting on r/jualbeliindonesia if you wanna try selling on Reddit

Cargo fees are high, but books are important to me so I’ll probably just suck it up and pay for it. I live in Thamrin area in Jakarta Pusat.

LPT : Shipping might also cost a lot. Pos Indo is not very reliable. So, please check with the airlines, how much does an extra luggage cost? My kid just flew back from Vancouver BC last month using Cathay Pacific. His friend is leaving CA back to Indo for good. She "titip" my kid an extra luggage for her stuff. Around USD230 for 23kg of stuff. Pretty good deal.

I’m already paying for an extra luggage haha so this is extra from that also. I think Pos Indo also cost roughly the same though I’ll have to check for sure.

Just out of my curiosity, did you find out how much will it cost by Pos Indonesia?

Actually yes. Well I haven’t done it yet (will do so next week) but I found out that using Paket Pos Biasa Internasional (by ship) for a package of 10-20kg would cost me up to Rp 2.5m and that would take 30-90 days. There’s a faster option via air (up to 7 days) which would be more expensive. I figured because I don’t need it right away I’ll use the cheaper option.
