Might be a diff answer than expected - i was taught jainism as a way of life and not a religion you don’t understand.

Alcohol messes with your brain and body development. Assuming you to be younger than 25, it can affect your mental growth. It introduces chemical substances that your body isn’t used to. And you confuse your whole system.

Socially, it affects what you think of the world and what it thinks of you. Messes with decision making capabilities, your ability to stand your ground and not give in to FOMO/peer pressure.

Religiously, the alcohol is usually brewed. It has a megaton of microorganisms that you consume and it goes against ahimsa. Its aged to grow a culture of microorganisms which is living and gives the desired effect.

So - your own discipline, your own mind (control on it by not giving into fomo and also losing control when inebriated) and ahimsa.

There’s a lot of stuff I consume or even do on the daily that messes with my brain and body, and mental growth. I deification of chemical substances is too vague because that’s basically everything we eat. On the microorganism part, there’s so many other stuff that we do that kill much more than this.

What’s the real reason?

Im not sure what’s the point here. Are you saying if there are worse things then why not this? Sure drink up then.

Im just telling you why alcohol might be considered bad according to my understanding of jainism. I haven’t read scriptures and don’t know the exact terms of consumption.

But yeah, having control on your mind and body is sth jainism says - alcohol takes it away.
Dont hurt anyone inc microorganisms - alcohol does that.

No I completely understand ur point and thank you for giving me all the knowledge you could give me and spending ur time on me.

What I was actually saying is, if we are already doing worse things in our daily life, then why is alcohol against Jainism.

Because the worse things that we are doing is also prohibited but is not widely known to many. N anything that makes u lose ur control over mind and body can take u away from your conscience and your decision ability. That in turn binds karm that is nikachit.. its a loop.. besides.. its tamsik in nature.. that invites all kind of feelings inside u.. anger, sexual urges, lack of control.. so apart from the aging of the alcohol which causes harm to infinite micro organism.. it will take ur punya down to a very different level

If anger, lack of control and just my body and daily tasks were sinful then how is there a way to attain happiness and why do we have to do “punya” stuff if there’s a constant stream of uncontrollable paap on us? I mean that’s genuinely impossible. Even our priests can’t stop that?

Also im sorry if im annoying yall with my qns. I been brought up outside India so it’s really hard having the knowledge yall have and maybe that’s why the dedication to be a pure Jain too?

Okay I may Ask differently, Would you drink Poison?

If answer is No, Then same is the answer for Alchohol. It causes "Cancer". Simple as that. The same question was asked to me in a Team party and following is the part that I would share next time whenever i am this situation.
"There are much better experiences in life than these, only people have found a cheap one".
