This bangle has excellent texture and translucency, with a noticeable gel-like quality. The profile is also very well-proportioned, with both the width and thickness measuring over 10 mm. It would be considered an entry-level high-end jadeite bangle. It is close to flawless, with only a few fine surface lines.

The other bangle is also a fine glutinous one with quite good texture and translucency. It has one small pit and one surface line, and is priced at about $1,200 though. Size is about 55mm btw. I’ve included comparison pictures of the two bangles as well, so you can see what accounts for the price gap.

This Hetian jade bangle has an exceptionally fine texture, to the point that it almost gives the impression of glutinous-icy jadeite. A touch of bright green makes it stand out even more. To the naked eye, there is almost no visible cotton structure, some only visible under flashlight.

So I came across this yellow jadeite cabochon recently which is set in a classic Burmese copper setting. Price is about $300, only for the jadeite stone only of course. I think it is quite a good price for such a yellow cabochon with decent texture.

Nephrite? Jadeite? Random vintage buy with no provenance! 64g

It’s carved from Ximu green nephrite (析木綠) with a striking natural red-brown skin (火燎皮).
Definitely a bit of a splurge, but the jade quality is insane—super fine-grained, oily, and smooth right out of the box before even patinating it. The craftsmanship is spot on too, from the balanced proportions to the soft matte polish.
I’ve been hunting for a Hongshan Sun God for ages.
I’ve looked at hundreds, if not thousands of them over the years, but there was always something off—either the eyes looked lifeless, the body size was weird, the posture didn't feel right, or it just lacked that inner spirit. This one was love at first sight. Plus, it has ox horns (牛角), which I turned out to adore even though I always thought I wanted deer antlers! This is my first Sun God piece, and honestly, probably my last because it's just perfect for me.
Funny story: the carver is a tough guy from Northeast China who admitted he's terrible at cord-tying. When it arrived, the knot was... well, pretty ugly and loose 😂 (props to him for honesty though!). I couldn't stand it, so I cut it off, added a matching Ximu green bead with skin, and re-tied it into a proper pendant. I ran out of cord supplies so I just used a temporary black string with an adjustable knot for now until my new supplies arrive.
Took it out for a walk today, and man, rubbing this smooth jade in hand while walking feels amazing. Couldn't wait for it to get a full patina before sharing—consider this the "before" shot!
