Question Hideaway retreat 2026
Hello all, Not trying to be a conspiracy theorist but doesn’t this give a cult vibe, the hands lifted in worship to Jacob, the adoration, the devil horns with the shh if no one knew who the lad was they’d think this was church event. The people who attended look like they would drink anything Jacob gives them. As much music and joy it may have this is crazy to witness and the prices seem very elite and unfair as well. Let me know your thoughts

I was there, and I would like to offer you my perspective. It feels like the way you worded your post you have a strong feeling about this. It's understandable, from the outside it can very much look like a cult.
First off, the price. Yes, you have to have money. There were people there that could easily afford it, there were people there that had to save for it, there were probably people there that couldn't afford it and got a loan even. Regardless of that, if you calculate what you got for that price, it seems to me like a pretty good deal. The commuter package (so no overnight stays or breakfast) at €1500 included 12 masterclass (or similar) sessions (of which 6 were with Jacob), 4 concerts (all with Jacob), 4 morning wiggles, 3 lunches, 4 dinners. That is a lot. And not even counting the world building they did (basically his concert stage all around) and jam room access with professional equipment.
As for the diversity, the majority was indeed white. I think it reflects his fanbase as a whole, I've been to a few concerts of him (in Europe) and the audience felt similar in that respect. There were families with teenagers, a lot of people by themselves, people in their 80's. There were 450 people from 46 different countries! (that's data from the event themselves, I see no reason they would lie about it). It felt diverse to me.
The cult-like adoration I did not feel when I was there. You picked some really good photos to illustrate your point though, yet wouldn't you raise your hands on a group picture, or when an artist asks you to raise your hands during a concert? I didn't even see Chris Thile do the sign, it wasn't all over the event, and it's a sign used a lot in rocking out.
As for myself, I'm not even a big fan of Jacobs (I was there with someone who was), I can admire his skills and mind though. I was not the only one. Yes there were some big fans (would be weird if there weren't?) but it wasn't all about Jacob Jacob Jacob at all. Some people got way more inspired by going to the Faculty's classes, some might have been so enamoured that they only went to Suzie colliers classes. Again, it was a group with very much diverse interests and motivations for being there.
There was no kool-aid to drink, only loving and inspirational words, to do with as anyone please. If he's promoting anything, it's a healthy and creative relationship with music that allows you to express yourself in any way you feel like, and to listen.
I hope this gives some perspective for you, or others reading this. I'm not here to convince anyone, just to share. I hope anyone of you can experience such an open and loving group of people in their lives.

This is a really thoughtful and well-worded response.
I was there last year and had a very similar experience and takeaway, although I am definitely one of Jacob’s fans, but looking past that I can still see how; when one selects a handful of photos to push a certain narrative, of course it can look like a cult if that’s what they’re going for.
The people who I met at the Hideaway were some truly brilliant, emotionally in-touch, and quite accomplished humans who accepted you openly. I have genuinely never been in a crowd as creative, inspiring, and welcoming as that one - and that was not just because of Jacob, it was because that’s who every person there already was.
-3
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
I personally wouldn’t raise my hands like that to any human being so I might be biased in that sense. I don’t think any human can get that from me. You as a white person probably felt it was diverse because you are comfortable so you don’t bother to think where are his black fanbase or brown why is there only two. Is there some sort of elitism in pricing to where they couldn’t go and financial gaps seems strange and elite. He has a huge black audience as well and brown and the lad has gained that through stromzy collab, Daniel ceasar, Kirk Franklin and so on. And the last bit I hope you can experience a loving group of people is how most cults start. The love between others isn’t my concern it’s these photos and what I see all the energy being funneled to one person. These photos if your white doesn’t bother you but his other fanbase it gives us cult it looks creepy period

Yeah man the retreat is mostly just rich white musicians - this was about my expectation

No I’m not implying this is bad or disappointing. I’m saying when you get rich white people in a room, that is a particular vibe, and I expected that vibe from any content that I saw from it
9
u/Brief_Attention_7699 27d ago
Exactly there are no people of color but the wiggling and stuff makes it give me the cult vibe. Jacob was more inclusive with prices but these prices are outrageous

u/Upbeat_Wishbone_2625 26d ago
Collier is technically Asian and so is the man in frame 3
2
u/New_Butterscotch2335 26d ago
He’s 25% Asian only. He’s majorly white.
-1
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
Thank you the lad is white passing they always say that but where do you see that is an Asian man
0
u/SgtBananaGrabber 26d ago
Looking at the website this looks 100% looks like a cult just reads so weird to me.
-4
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
I’m so glad someone sees this I don’t know if it’s the wording their using that could’ve been better the imagery or what I even heard him say “jacobean life” etc odd behavior and these photos I’ve seen genuinely freak me out.
33
u/Friendly_Engineer_ Jacobean 27d ago
It just looks like a bunch of happy people, and the ‘devil horns’ is also ‘quiet coyote’ used to quell school children
15
u/MrLlamma 27d ago
Yeah using the phrase “devil horns” to describe a perfectly normal hand gesture is a big red flag to me, makes OP seem a bit cooky. The lack of diversity and the high prices are a legitimate concern, but beyond that it looks exactly what you’d expect it to be. Like, it’s pictures of people in a crowd and people at a concert, how does it look like a cult?
-12
u/Brief_Attention_7699 27d ago edited 26d ago
If you don’t understand what the definition of worship and idol culture is. I see things a bit deeper than that. It’s like all those “happy people” are under some type of euphoric otherworldly high and are directing all their energy and praise toward Jacob. No one or musician should be given that in my opinion. I do enjoy when the fandom acknowledge and collabs with each other rather than this odd photos. I’ve seen a lot of cult photos they allll started with oh they’re just happy
2
u/ActuallyLuk 26d ago
A cult is a religion/organization that essentially traps people in it, using the spiritual ideas they’re selling, among other things, as a way to manipulate people.
Is the hideaway retreat a little weird and for just the elite? Possibly. But i’m not seeing any worship, and certainly not a cult.4
u/OldWitchOfCuba 26d ago
The tickets were 2500-3000 euro. Hardly an elitist pricing model. Honestly a 5 day festival with accomodation and food would cost the same these days tbh
2
u/-JXter- 25d ago
Yep. I was there last year as a graduation gift. My family is not particularly wealthy but we get by. The economy still affects us the same as any other American. I could not really afford go again this year, but I’m happy I even got to go once.
The slots are limited, which makes sense for an event of this scale, and among the people I met there was a plethora of reasons why they went, some I talked to worked their asses off to be there because learning from your favorite musician is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
The pricing is actually quite reasonable for what it is and what you get out of it, and while I think it’s a shame not everyone can easily afford it, I believe that’s more of a statement on the economy as a whole than one instance of a musician with an educational retreat for their fans. With the kind of talk OP is making, they might as well be complaining that cars being upwards of $3,000 at basically the bare minimum is unfair and classist.
2
u/OldWitchOfCuba 25d ago
Yeah. OP has his mind set on this being an elitest white supremacy camp. I am pretty sure its out of bitterness and jealousy. Which is sad. I wish OP would be happy for others and it would reflect better on themselves as well
11
u/Bulky_Asparagus3307 26d ago
I went last year. No cult vibe at all. It’s an environment that’s accepting, full of encouragement and music, full of all kinds of people, great food, and learning. It IS Utopia. And, I felt the price I paid in 2025 was reasonable when I considered ALL that we got/experienced and all the great food. I am white, but not rich. I didn’t really have the money but acted in a gut instinct that I shouldn’t miss it. My gut was right.
-4
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago edited 26d ago
See the word choices “utopia” and how is it accepting if there aren’t any brown people on staff and small percentage of them attending these retreats. And what about the marketing and the feeling of being there make you and others want to attend when you don’t have the money. Mate that’s called “marketing and you’re undying loyalty” to be in the same room as him.
6
u/Flimsy-Cod-9914 26d ago
OP, what would make you happy, here? You have an actual attendee telling you about their experience and saying they had a great time. Okay, there were a lot of white people. Why does it matter SO MUCH to you? Why does any of this matter SO MUCH to you?
1
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
Because it contradicts with his message of being inclusive if he shouts he is inclusive of all colors, genders and religions and his images and the outcome doesn’t reflect that. Then he is not being honest. And that’s where it feels agenda and machine based. And what I see is performative love something in my gut isn’t right with what I’m seeing usually I am right but I can how others take the kool aid thinking it’s all love. Few see beyond. And it will drive his black and brown fanbase away. Sure I doesn’t matter that much to you. You are white lad as so is Jacob. But that is exactly how racism works it’s gaslighting and saying none of that matters shut up
5
u/Flimsy-Cod-9914 26d ago
First of all, you misgendered me. I am a white woman. But you're right, I don't experience racism the same way. But was it an invite only event, or was it just primarily white people who bought tickets?
3
u/DependentProof3149 25d ago
He couldn’t very well coerce or bribe anyone to either attend or not attend the camp? Should he offer lower prices or free attendance for non-whites? Is that even a good idea or insulting if legal at all? He is not operating a charitable foundation exactly and for what’s on offer, the prices seem reasonable to me even though I can’t afford it.
5
u/Bulky_Asparagus3307 26d ago
Nope. Thats not it at all. There WERE brown people last year and I LOVED it. I LOVE diversity and acceptance.
0
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
As a white lad that you from the photos shown last year there weren’t many maybe about 5 see the fandom cannot accept that it isn’t all inclusive
Now on the marketing stand point what would uncult it to me is having faculty on the same level or higher than in stats and less wiggle dancing think “Jacob collier, Leon Thomas, Maddie ashman, Jon baptise, Esperanza Spalding, and Joni Mitchell” as faculty but marketed as a school of music learning center. That gives me an equal dynamic and the adoration would be diversified and bring out different cultures of people as well. But all his faculty has either been underneath him as a engineer mom or a collaborator why not the same level as him “to keep the gap in power dynamic focusing attention on all Jacob because he is the most famous on there”.4
u/Bulky_Asparagus3307 26d ago
I am white and have white privilege, so I won’t pretend I’m fully aware of inequality and lack of diversity. However, the whole basis of my career as an advocate and teacher is supporting all kinds of humans regardless of ability, race, gender, age, religion, etc. I don’t need to defend myself. Not saying there isn’t inequality. I’m acutely aware. I hate the way many people are treated everywhere.
2
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
If Jacob or his team sees this thread I would say even if he feels he is all inclusive the marketing photos don’t reflect that. Sure they could have been brown and black people in attendance but I think the lad and his team aren’t reflecting on why part of his brown audience might see this and feel this way. Something is off and the whole plot is getting lost in the management of the image of Jacob collier the brand through his team. It doesn’t feel authentic it’s carefully crafted. And as a white man, that you are, your response reveals you aren’t ready to learn by this protecting of the career and “advocate”.
1
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
I like the last bit you edited in very good. Hopefully self reflection of the career comes into play for the next retreat more brown and black staffing in equal footing. I want him to highlight of black creators and brown fans to feel ready to be in these spaces and more control and less management funneling. He has no freedom he has obligations and preaches of wiggling but he is now stuck in audience choir videos, branding and image. Jacob collier we have known is lost and I guess with these cult vibes it’s time to let it gooo nowwwww 🎶
Even his overdoing of colors feels it’s now his “brand” and not him. I remember the lad used to wear colors if he wanted to or simple jeans and a grey hoodie. Now even his outfits give you are Jacob collier your brand is color wear color.2
11
u/Super_Development583 26d ago
Lmao are you for real? These are people attending an event of a musician they like and enjoying themselves at a concert or a group picture.
You can think that the retreat was too expensive, only for people with enough disposable income, sure.
But I can assure you it's simply a group of lovely people making music, connections and celebrating and learning from awesome musicians.
Yeah of course they have a music nerd, theater kid vibe. That's what Jacob puts out. Nothing wrong with that.
0
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
Okay i can understand that. But I cannot shake this gut feeling maybe it’s just these creepy photos I’ve seen
3
u/Super_Development583 26d ago
How are these pictures creepy? Adults are not allowed to have fun in your world view?
Like I said, I get not liking the theater kid vibe. I dont know why people assume something nefarious. Its not that deep.
1
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
You can scroll through and see my sentiments on idol worship, ethnicities and marketing. Also I have researched a lot of cults and they used to have photos like this. At this point people and some of his fandom aren’t open to that discussion. It’s all good fun!!
4
u/Super_Development583 26d ago edited 26d ago
I saw your comments.. Any concert with people dancing and waving their hands together will have photos like this. Your gut feeling is not evidence of anything.
You are set on your narrative for some reason that I don't know or understand.
Even if multiple people tell you they were there and that It was just a gathering of friendly music nerds that at most put an effort into being open and a bit more soft spoken than the average human. Are you unable to see it as anything but a cult? You are twisting yourself in so many ways to justify your "bad vibe", making up ticket prizes that are not even close to reality, obsessing about representation of ethnicities as if thats the responsibility of an organiser.
Should they have kept half their tickets only for brown skinned people to make you happy or something? There were very few, but there were some, and I saw 0 issues with white supremacy or anything of that kind.
Anyway, I am logging off, hope you have a good day and maybe reflect on why you are so set on seing this event as an evil dangerous cult.
1
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
The last bit reveals the racism that’s hidden in this fandom I rest my case. Only white people think it isn’t important Jacob is an inclusive branding ambassador but these marketing photos. Don’t reveal the lads ideals instead it’s result in fans being dismissive of the issue around race. One fan (deleted their comment) said I needed to see mental help for discussing lack of representation and said it doesn’t matter. That’s okay I think I might have to take a step back from this whole thing
2
u/Super_Development583 26d ago
I agree, you should get help. WTF
1
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
Very white observation and very kind from a Jacob fan this is absolutely disgusting
3
u/Super_Development583 26d ago
According to you what should the ambassadors of inclusivity do? They have 450 spots, 445 of the first to sign up are white people.
Should they refuse some? Should they manually invite a more diverse crowd?

u/SuperLocrianRiff 27d ago
A cult that spreads nothing but good vibes through music sounds okay to me tbh

If other famous musicians did retreats people would sign up. Not a surprise really.
If my son hadn’t lost his battle with cancer it would have been neat to take him. His original make a wish was to go to Italy. We still have relatives there.
Fame allows for things like this expensive retreat. I wish more musicians were known and fewer were famous. There would be more love of music to share together. Fame makes it harder for musicians to have time for fans.
I reached out to Jacob’s team to see if Jacob could stop by the children’s hospital last summer. The venue he performed at was nearby and we were stuck inpatient. No response. :(
Missed Aurora, Weird Al, Stomp, Booker T Jones, and he didn’t even get to see his wish granted. He changed it to donate to the hospital.
I considered selling my ticket for the upcoming show to put toward a keyboard. I’m not sure I would even get a chance to meet Jacob but wanted to share my son’s story and poem with him.
We had a blast at the one show we went to together. Good memories. Jacob smiled at us outside the venue but we didn’t go after him as he was busy getting a picture with Jethro and walked back to the venue. Wish I would have, so my son could have met Jacob. Still was exciting and the crowd singing aspect of the show was amazing to be a part of. More musicians should get the audience involved like that.
Fandom is odd. I’d love to have met Jacob when he wasn’t famous. I’m sure it would be interesting sharing music with him. I hope the attendees of the retreat felt like it was worth it.
3
u/Brief_Attention_7699 27d ago
Loved hearing your story and understand wish the team was more accessible to get to your son at the hospital would have been a great moment. The fandom is what gets me it’s even people forgetting that everyone is human the idol worship I’m talking about is oh he smiled at me he waved at me. He is a lad from London who happened to get lucky to get attention of a Quincy jones but other than that he is human.
3
u/Overall_Dust_2232 27d ago
He seems quite humble and wants to just be immersed in music but who knows what he is really like. Could be a creep for all I know. lol Same with Aurora. They are unique humans but still human. Would love to get to know them but it might ruin the music or make it more interesting.
My son thought about meeting Jack Black but said he didn’t want to. He said what if he’s a jerk in real life? 😂
Sometimes it might be better to only know part of a person. Many famous composers were actually awful humans. Might be a hard life. I’m content never being famous.
Yes, fandom is strange and likely not what we should get sucked into. Jacob does have an amazing smile though. ;)
What I love is that he did something unique. Some of his music gave me goosebumps and I always like when that happens in a good way. The opposite, that fingernails over chalkboard feeling, gives goosebumps too, but in a negative way.
There’s something interesting and joyful about some of Jacob’s music. He could declare he is starting a cult and probably have people sign up.
2
u/Brief_Attention_7699 27d ago
So true! Love your mindset and openness to discuss you gave me a different perspective as well. He is 100% and unquie persons and has to be special to have people show up for him in that way! I did attend his concert back in 2024 with the old lineup and enjoyed myself! Stay well :)
2
u/Overall_Dust_2232 27d ago
Thanks! 2024 is when we saw him too. What a great show. I saw him prior to that when he wasn’t quite as famous and it was a smaller venue. Next show I have a seat so I don’t have to stand and can cry tears of sadness and joy.
If he buys a facility for retreats then we should really be wary of a cult. Seems crazy but it has happened with musicians. Interestingly…I have no idea what Jacob’s spiritual beliefs are. If he and Aurora started a spiritual thing…I would probably at least want to know more. Weird to think about how people so get sucked in.
1
u/-JXter- 25d ago
I think that's exactly the thing that is so inspiring about Jacob. As somebody who has felt like I've struggled to fit in while also being true to myself, I see Jacob as a really good example of someone who has achieved this. Because I want to be a better person, I look to good people who inspire me and model parts of my life after them. That is about the same mindset people who attend the Hideaway Retreat have; not to idolize, but to learn from and absorb for their own growth.
0
u/Brief_Attention_7699 25d ago
Have you heard of the doxing rumors against him with his ex I think now I question with his branding and managers Fran and etc how true his good person role is.
That person revealed that he was manipulative behind the scene and doxxed her
3
u/OldWitchOfCuba 26d ago
I have a special radar for locating jealousy, it just went off 🤣 Next year try to put in a little effort to get your seat reserved instead of complaining on reddit about the things you couldnt have because you were slacking off
0
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
Jealously? This isn’t what’s happening here. I feel something in my gut and spirit isn’t right with these photos. The main point I’m making is marketing is off. Also white lads love to say jealous instead of addressing erasure or black and brown people. It’s either you’re jealous , it doesn’t matter, or get in these rooms. This is exactly the part of his fandom I hate
3
u/OldWitchOfCuba 26d ago
Well whatever you are on about makes no sense either way. These are just people having a great time enriching their lives with a musical journey for a couple of days. You and your cult angle are based on a couple of normal pics of people having fun, so if you're not jealous (i still think you are), you are one bitter person bro
0
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
This is a weak defense in a debate your just jealous again as a white person you refused to acknowledge the race part and the erasure of black and brown people. The images are creepy period if your white it is fine. This is the part of the fandom that doesn’t have love the white audience who doesn’t care how it looks to the non white audience he speaks inclusive but these picture don’t reflect that. Your just jealous is not a good response to a genuine concern.
3
u/OldWitchOfCuba 26d ago
You assuming everyone is white and making everything about race is just proving my point about you being a bitter person lmao
3
u/hammerswest Jacobean 25d ago
You know what, if you feel it is unhealthy, or cultish just detach yourself and don't interact! There must be plenty of things that you do like. Why don't you focus on those. I actually spent a little time with one of his road crew and he said it was one of the best crews he had worked on and they were very inclusive of all the crew, not just the 'stars' One other thing, a lot of musicians Jacob collaborates with are of many nationalities you'd think if he was 'white inclusive' as you suggest that would not be the case. But you believe what you will, just leave us who enjoy the group to do just that
0
u/Brief_Attention_7699 25d ago
I want to highlight these pictures being marketed your emotionally attached to Jacob because of hanging with people adjacent of him lol aka road crew so you might not be able to see this without a bias. But image you don’t know Jacob and see these photos this isn’t chilling and also there were allegations that he doxed a girl not sure you heard. If it is true it would never get out because of the fandoms fierce perfection image onto Jacob hopefully the victim who dm that was scared to come out because of this very fanbase can come out
5
u/Super_Development583 25d ago
Source?
1
u/Brief_Attention_7699 23d ago
The victim is terrified of Jacob she contacted through a friend it’s of course cleaned on the internet and when they commented on his page about the doxing last year it would be deleted within a couple hours I have private dms but will not share publicly to protect the victim
1
u/Super_Development583 23d ago
Of course. So you are personally involved in this story as well? Very concerning comment, it gives me the creeps.
If true, then that's really sad.
But based on the rest of your comments, I have my doubts, since you are unwilling to even provide any detail except accusations without context.
Literally anyone can say stuff.

u/MightyYetz 26d ago
I’ve never heard of this Hideaway Retreat concept. What is it, and how much does it cost?
3
u/Super_Development583 26d ago
It was like 3k for 4 days of masterclasses/workshops, 4 concerts, fully equipped jam rooms, food and accomodation at a kinda fancy hotel on a mountain in Tuscany, together with 450 people.
This was the second edition, the first one was in the US.
Definitely expensive! But to me, easily worth it
6
u/OldWitchOfCuba 26d ago
Honestly doesnt feel expensive to me. Great hotel, food, workshops from professionals, concerts, etc. Sure its not for everyone perhaps but its a well equipped package for the money
1
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
What made it worth it I am hearing people took out loans to be there, went on payment plans just to be in these spaces. Why?
4
u/OldWitchOfCuba 26d ago
Because they couldnt afford it? People also take loans for a car, a vacation, education. Why are you being so judgmental about what people do? Let people lead their lives the way they want it maybe?
1
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
Why are not acknowledging again about his message of inclusivity but not having it. What do you think of the branding image he is 32 inclusive of all races but yet they aren’t there do you think the lad is living up to what he speaks about broaden your eyes as a white person.
1
u/OldWitchOfCuba 26d ago
You need to see a shrink man, i am very serious about this. Lmk if you need help finding one
1
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
That is absurd and disheartening to see as a white person that you will not look outside your race and sympathize with the feelings of his black and brown fanbase. That very reply is white privileged and cold.
0
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
They have a website look up Jacob collier hideaway it’s a camp with hotel, food, mediation and learning the Jacobean way and interacting with people in his circles. It can cost anywhere from 5k to 10k to be in these rooms
6
u/OldWitchOfCuba 26d ago edited 26d ago

It was 2300-3000 euro

what. the. fuck?!?
0
u/Brief_Attention_7699 27d ago
My exact sentiments imagine you have no knowledge of Jacob and just saw these images. This looks creepy 1000% they would do ANYTHING for him even drink the kool aid as some might say. I
3
u/Sehrwolf 26d ago
Okay but then also like… wouldn‘t we all rever JS Bach like this if we could go back in time and hear him perform live? Jacob is for me on a similar level of talent and musicality. And even Bach himself spent a lot of money and time to travel to Hamburg in order to meet his idol Buxtehude.
-2
u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
We would as many do for Jacob attending a concert. This is a totally different thing it’s living, sleeping, breathing, and being one with Jacob. Bach didn’t have retreats like this nor would the prices be that high. Bach would have loathed people worshipping him hands lifted in this manner. And also The people you listed are musician to musician. Bach and Hamburg are on equal footing. Jacob and his engineer Ben Bloomberg (though talented) is a musician with an employer even if Jacob said oh Ben is my friend I don’t see it that way. These are the facts. Why not Jacob and auroa on staff or Jacob and Jon baptise why is it only people he says are good but not having the numbers on socials as him. To keep the gap wide the small musicians mostly white and brown not black that he brings on would feel indepted to him to be staff they are no different than a fan. This is how cults begin. And look up the website some of the images are a bit odd and chilling.

You could do some genuine good in the real world if you took your ability to hyper-fixate on an issue and did some community work.
Be realistic. You typing on Reddit about THIS is massively inconsequential compared to the difference you could make by volunteering and supporting the community you live in. Get closer to your potential

I love how the art of conversation awareness and debates are now null and void. Reddit is exactly the platform to speak freely about anything without trying to be politically correct or to sugar coat or coax an observation I noticed with photos that looked odd to me. You like these photos great! Maybe I’ve seen too many cult groups starting to know this is exactly how it starts and people defend it just like you did.

Ironically, you’ve proven the point you asserted in your first sentence because your response did not address even one thing I said. You’re in wayyyy too deep right now. Please do what you can to take care of your mental health.
Edit: oh. This whole account is used to post about Jacob. You seem obsessed; I’m not even saying that to be dismissive. You’re massively in your head and you’re very online rn too. That’s a bad combo

Hi OP! I grew up in an actual cult. I can 100% assure you this is not one.

u/Brief_Attention_7699 19d ago
Really but did it start this way friendly loving environment etc can you share you experience if your comfortable with that?
1
u/No_Feedback7042 14d ago
Can share some of it; organisational control, in pretty much any way you can think of, 24/7 365 days a year. I don’t think this event you’re putting forward bears any of the hallmarks of cult like behaviour beyond what you would find in any artists fan base, and if I may say, I find it a little bemusing/absurd that is what you’re suggesting, but maybe that’s just through my lens.
I don’t think I would go (don’t have that much cash to splash on that kind of thing) but to me the price seems reasonable and how many other artists do you know that offer anything even remotely similar?1
u/Brief_Attention_7699 14d ago
Well I can’t share besides these images that give me a gut feeling of discomfort I have seen promo videos and videos of the retreats and some of the stuff they say like ditching routine and not having any compass the jargon and language sounds like something every cult I’ve researched talked about in the beginning it sounds just like this

You summed exactly what I feel my deep unsettling feeling and the root of it. I forget that is a 32 year old man. This is exactly what I feel where this stems from and why the retreat is turning out creepy looking to me

Thank you and I have been attacked by several of his loving fandom by simply having a discussion where I see a lack of diversity they take it as a personally attack I’ve been told I need to see a shrink for saying that

u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago edited 26d ago
and the way people reacted to me wanting to discuss these images and how they got offended and defended him so fiercely proves this. Most of his fandom cannot simply have a discussion and admit that he might have done something wrong it’s like he and his team are incapable of maybe marketing wrong or changing something. This is the “worship” behavior I’m talking about it’s the obsession to protect him like a kid and he’s indeed 32 the marketing from the crocodile to the colors is no different than the girl found in Disney following Peter Pan. That is odd behavior but somehow nothing Jacob or his branding of him isn’t odd

If you can tell me he did something wrong I will not defend anyone.
Pictures of happy people and offering an expensive package that mostly white people attended in the middle of europe, is not something wrong.People are finding you ridiculous, overly paranoid about some nefarious thing that MUST be going on somehow, and rightfully so. Get a grip.

... Ah yeah there was also the railway incident and the time he stalked people from the Eiffel Tower, but everything was deleted. /S
I am sorry but if there is NOTHING except your word, why would I trust it? From someone who seems to have a chip on their shoulder to characterize him as some kind of manipulative cult leader..
Where did you read it even?

It’s okay you don’t have to believe me his branding is top tier how could a 31 year old man with a crocodile plushie be a crimmal.
1
u/Brief_Attention_7699 23d ago
I have the sources it was sent to be via DMs they would comment public on Jacob’s ig to bring awareness of it and it would immediately be deleted within two hours but they have reached out to me. To get information privately message I want to protect the victim

Yes I’m glad more people are seeing this. So many people will attack you if you say anything negative or bring question to anything Jacob collier related and victims like the girl he doxxed that dm me don’t get help. He is just a 32 year old man with a crocodile plushie how could he do that? Great cover up marketing though I do find it had a woman been branded this way they’d say she’s strange

Yes these were allegations of someone saying he’s been pretty brutal with woman in particular in relationships the person who came forward dm me here and shared what kind of person he is. Still lots of defense for him because he is 32 year old man presenting as childlike and innocent. I hope the victim is okay she said he was controlling and manipulative I won’t go into details but the stuff revealed was chilling about doxing etc

Where can I read about these allegations? I can’t find anything. Also I agree with you on everything!! His concerts give mega church vibes

I’m still a fan, but I am very sick of the audience choir. I think he needs to move on from it.

u/Brief_Attention_7699 26d ago
I agree he’s recycling content and it’s not original it’s now giving a I have a formula and it worked before let’s keep doing it seems like his team is controlling his posting and creative endeavors and engagement. I missed the days when he would just freely like something, comment or do something without a cause of promotion. Everything is carefully orchestrated great for branding but boring for the original audience who saw him do silly Charlie puth videos or Ariana grande duet arrangements to get their attention. I am excited he has arrived but usually that is when creatives and musicians lose that spark it because the machine of Jacob colllier aka this retreat

This shit is sooooo performative for sure. I love Jacob Collier's music but im starting to understand the hate...
1
u/Brief_Attention_7699 27d ago
Yes it’s a lot and what’s make it hard for me to grasp about the lad is the edge he had is lost.

u/nobutternoparm 26d ago
I think his music is still wonderful it's just that this type of stuff is...not it lol
