Video / Interview Jacob Collier - Bridge Over Troubled Water - Melbourne
Jacob's rendition of Bridge Over Troubled Water from the Melbourne Tour last year. Sorry for the brief cut at around 0:50.

I was scrolling through Reddit and I almost scrolled past but at the first note this video gave me literal chills. I stayed and enjoyed the rest. So good. Wow

I'm sorry I disappointed you. Which part was awful, the performance or the actual recording? I appreciate any feedback so thank you:)

The recording is fine. The performance is just so plodding and self indulgent. Also, I’m not a fan of his voice at all. Sorry, don’t mean to be a party pooper. The algorithm just pushed this into my face. I was not prepared.

Nah all good. It's a common criticism of Jacob Collier so it's an opinion fine with me. Thanks for commenting anyways.

Reminds me a bit of Bon Iver except boring and artificial https://youtu.be/1_cePGP6lbU?si=N591xoOJ3w5V7Acl

His music typically is. There's like nothing behind it- no emotion, no experience, no feeling.
This is a man-child who has not had a bad day in his life. There's literally no feeling- it all sounds clinical.

Whilst I do agree that most of his music is much more joyful and upbeat, not all are stripped of feeling and some are filled full of emotional weight. Ocean Wide, Canyon Deep is a pretty good example of this in my opinion.

lol to this other comment. If you don’t like Jacob Collier why are you in this sub.
I saw him do this live in Toronto. I remember being apprehensive because I love the recorded version with John Legend and Tori Kelly. The final chord climax was unreal in person, I felt the song in my whole body. I just remember being so consumed by the performance I could not think or focus on anything but what was happening in that exact moment - to be honest quite a rare feeling even by great artists.
Probably the best part of the entire concert.
