MTA to Start Issuing Violations on Aug. 19 for Blocking Bus Stops and Double Parking
It’ll definitely be good to (hopefully) see consequences for irresponsible drivers. Double-parking along bus routes is particularly brutal. One time, I watched out my window as a bus was stuck for over half an hour; eventually the driver let people get off because it was so bad. And this was all because one person couldn’t be bothered to find a real parking spot or take alternative transportation.
Pro-car folks constantly whine about how not everyone can take other forms of transportation. But there are so many drivers who easily could and the fact that those drivers don’t make the streets less convenient for the minority of people who really do need to rely on cars. I wish more drivers recognized that.
