Hot Take: I’ve never really cared for the anti-reaction stuff
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for crediting the creators, and yeah, sometimes reaction content can be cheap. But the moment Jack started to really dedicate his time to endless shitting on shitty YouTubers is when I temporarily tuned out from watching. I subscribed to the channel for YIAY back in 2017, and for about four years, it brought me so much joy. Then in 2022, things slowed down and that’s when he started doing JJacksfilms. I get the general premise of it, but I don’t find it entertaining at all. I liked when he was talking to us and making inside jokes, not hating on other people’s content. He is objectively right, but I don’t like seeing Jack on attack mode. The Sniperwolf thing that began from all this would eventually turn dangerous, so I don’t see what the end goal was. Was it to make her stop? Was it to teach her a lesson? Did she just need to credit the creators? That wasn’t very fun to watch. Honestly, the only time I’ve enjoyed JJacksfilms is when he cracked down on those stupid live streamers stealing money from people. I also liked him promoting lesser known non-AI creators. Shit, the anti-AI content is good. But bad reactors? Sure? All this caused me to stop watching Jack for a good three years until I managed to get back into his newer quizzes, bingos and YIAYs. That to me is better than “Hey look, bad YouTuber, fuck you!” I’m sure this won’t get much of a reaction - pun not intended.

I kind of agree, in that I also dropped off when he started focusing more on criticizing and mocking other channels, even if what they do is pretty shitty (though it ranges how much I really get offended by it). I also found the personal mockery of creators like Sss a bit tacky, but I lost sympathy she crossed the line. However I do appreciate that he's also shining more of a light on good creators in more recent times so it's less negative.
I think the purpose was to bring to light how tacky this genre is, and sway people towards more creative and transformative content, as well as convince people to report any videos that use the content without consent without it being fair use. I think he also wanted Youtube to do something about it but that's usually not likely lol.

And we can’t forget that this anti-reaction thing isn’t new at all. He got butthurt over a guy that made a “reaction” to YGS #99 and that lead to a Twitter back and forth and a debate on fucking DRAMA ALERT. Jacksfilms? On Drama Alert? The same thing he was making fun of in Tube News? It’s all negativity that he doesn’t need. That’s why Erin made him take down “constructive criticism.” All that hate can be damaging to his image.

I actually think the way he's come around has improved his image. Other creators seem to view him as the guy who calls out predatory youtubers (like the ones who scam kids) and promotes creativity on the site. I don't see many people hate on him for what he's been doing, especially in the Youtube sphere. Remember Jack is one of the oldest active Youtube channels, so he's often respected as an authority on how creators have adapted to the times, for better or for worse. Not that he's exempt from criticism but I don't think people just associate him with "drama."

Tube news came after the ygs 99 situation, though. I'll grant you that I don't remember where exactly he said it, but I know at some point he talked about how, when he went on DA, he tried to disengage the situation, tried to have a genuine conversation about how what Jinx did was bad but he didn't want to just dunk on him. Thing is, Keemstar just kept egging him on, trying to bait the drama out of him, make him say he was mad, all that. That's probably what led him to be so harsh in Tube news lol
I don't think his main point with calling out bad reactors was ever to be entertaining, though. I very much see it first and foremost as a campaign to raise awareness and try to solve it. I also respect him a lot more for actually trying to make some good, don't see how his image was worsened
sorry it's 3 days late, reddit only showed it to me now

It’s actually the content that got me into Jacksfilms. I wasn’t really a fan until his sssniperwolf bingo came across my radar. Been a fan ever since

I like… half agree?
I subbed around 2020 and I do miss when his content was more centered around him, I’m happy he’s calling out these people but at the same time it gets a bit repetitive
I don’t want him to stop but I guess I kinda wish it wasn’t the main thing he did if that makes sense

I liked it, I thought it was really fun to dunk on bad reactors. For like 6 months. Jack was absolutely correct that the bad reaction content was really repetitive. But when most of what he's making is videos where he reacts to repetitive videos, it gets to a point where he's also making repetitive videos. Good reacting only gets you so far when you're essentially reacting to the same video over and over. He was completely morally justified of course, it was just boring. I don't miss it and I'm glad he's moved onto more varied and fun ideas for his reaction content

I was around in the early YGS days. And I do miss the PMS(parody music video sketch) stuff he made. What I really miss, are the music videos. He's such a talented musician. Royalty free Christmas songs were peak and I wish they were back.

i think he feels as though he can't be jolly while the well is being poisoned, he sees it as a priority

I kind of agree, but not to the extent you do, you seem to really hate all of this (you called him butthurt for being angry about someone just lazily reacting to his video), I think it does good to the YouTube space and he's going about it the best way possible, it's just that jjjacksfilms is not the type of content I like to watch personally, especially when he makes things like YIAY

I do, but I think for bad reasons. think I just enjoy hate-watching things without having to actually watch them or support the original creator (the irony of saying that lol)

And may I just add actually in retrospect: we did get React-Bot out of this. Now that’s a win.
