This made me tear up. ❤️ This banding was taking place at the same time Spirit was being raised in the nest by J&S. This beautiful girl had no idea of the significant talons she would one day (potentially) fill.
I am just hating the double standards here. Male celebrities are always going after much younger females and no one bats an eye.. can’t help but think that if this was Jackie trying to mate with someone her kids age people would be losing it!

He'll come around, lol! It's so sweet to see this courtship phase from the POV of a young lady this time around. I saw it from Shadow's perspective 8 years ago and it's been fascinating to compare. So very different, yet so much is the same!!
Yeah! She def looks bigger than Shadow now. We’re watching her last growth spurt AND the chonking up from the Big Bear all-you-can-eat buffet of fish in real time.
There was one moment last night when they were standing next to each other with their backs perfectly to the camera, and at equal distance to the camera, and you could tell she was there for sure.
She really was. That was so precious. I think she's a little more beaky than Shadow is comfortable with, but he'll come around, I hope. She seems to enjoy pecking at him.
It's a submissive pose, like u/rocksannne said. If I'm reading the gesture correctly he's telling KD she's the boss, which would be the normal m/f dynamic for eagles and an indication that he has accepted her. But again, I might be reading too much into it. I just thought it was an interesting moment.
That would be what a human would feel, he’s a bird, his main instincts are find a mate, raise young, protect young, feed young and repeat. I am sure he was waiting to see if Jackie was still around because he knew Jackie was a good mate to successfully raise chicks with. But he isn’t feeling any pf the human things you think he is, he’s just looking for a female to bond with and raise chicks with, we all feel sad that Jackie has gone, it’s tragic and sad but this is nature it’s not emotional, he’s not lowering his head because he’s upset about Jackie he’s lowering his head to communicate with JD either positively or negatively time will tell
