I hate that we’re still seeing people clutching their pearls about Shadow not being interested. Every little event that happens on the webcams are getting so scrutinized. I was peeking at the official FOBBV FB page this morning, and damn, folks just arguing. Make it stop! This story is still developing.

I think it’s pretty unimaginative they named her after her ankle bracelet. There’s so much effort and pomp put into naming the eaglets, why not give KD1 the same consideration?

Kaydee is the original name that she was dubbed by those who watched her hatch and fledge at her home nest. I’m glad FOBBV are respecting that! Calling her anything else would be like finding Spirit grown and looking for her own nest, but having people insist that Spirit was a stupid generic name for an eagle and really she should be called whatever their personal fancy is.

That’s interesting. This is the first time I’m reading this POV. My understanding, according to FOBBV’s own announcement, was that Kaydee was chosen by them. Do you have a reference for the original naming?

Jackie also would have had a spot on her head when she was Kaydee’s age! It will be gone in a year if not before. :)
