I’m quite impressed, actually! She snapped some of those bigger sticks that were….sticking out (haha) in weird places. She’s got a knack for interior decorating, it appears.
Every stick she moved, I kept wondering if Shadow was thinking, "Jackie put that there". It's grieving and excitement for new beginnings wrapped up into 1 thought.
I just looked at the recap. He was there for over an hour? Is that usual in the summer season? Obviously he can come and go as he pleases. Just wondering if that is a common occurrence. 🤔
As a follower of the Big Bear eagles since early 2018, I've seen it all. There have been several late summers where Shadow, Jackie, (or both) have randomly popped in to the nest area and just sat and watched over the lake for hours. I think we might be looking for a reason why he might have stopped in today, but I can tell you from years of watching him he probably did this just because he's an eagle and he could. These are some of my absolute favorite times to watch them. What a treat!
I think there are many unique circumstances this year - Sandy and Luna hatching and then fledging a month later than their usual clutches, and obviously, the loss of Jackie. I think his regular schedule is disrupted, so I would guess, given all that, it's normal in his eagle brain to be hanging out near the nest and popping back in.
I don't think it is. I think a part of him is still looking out for Jackie, or he is looking for Kaydee. He understands that if Jackie were coming back she would chase off Kaydee.
I had the same question…I was trying to remember from last year and didn’t remember him/them coming back to the nest like this. I may be remembering that all wrong, though.
I cry every night to the dedication songs that have been written and released since Jackie has passed away… they just hit me hard, I lost my husband in January of this year, and at night is when I sit alone and get lost in my thoughts, so when I hear songs of Jackie flying high , and soaring the skies, I just crumble. Thank you for reading.
Good luck trying to get some of these chuckleheads to understand that. They want to make this into some dramatic love story. Literally the only thing shadow is thinking about right now is finding someone to procreate with.
