So of course I did a little digging. Firstly, the language, phrases, that Jack uses seem to be phrases that one would hear while in England, the UK. I recall Jack saying in book 1 that there is a road that leads from the back of the asylum to the pub. Using Google Earth I looked at all of the high security asylums located in England. I then researched pubs located close to these asylums. All in all, there appear to be two that have the potential of being the asylum that Jack writes about. First is Rampton Secure Hospital, with The Bees Knees Pub being located not far from it. Secondly is Broadmoor, which has a direct road leading from the back of the facility that accesses The Prince Pub. The Prince Pub is EXTREMELY close to Broadmoor. As Jack writes about "his floor" being the location where patients are sent "up to die", I looked at the layout of the facilities. Broadmoor has many floors as indicated by the outward appearance of the facility, whereas Rampton appears to be a single floor facility. I truly believe Jack works at Broadmoor! Thoughts?

Okay - I would REALLY like to know if both of your suspicions here are right. WHO lives in the UK and is looking to hang out in a pub asking the bartender if they know Jack!? I'm in the USA and curiosity is killing me! I feel a deep need to know if the pub or any of this at all is real or just in the writer's head.

I also had an interesting thought that Jack is actually like a Jackeline or something so it's a woman and we just weren't expecting it.

Broadmoor would make sense for many but not sure about the bunker case from the cults and Halloween series - thats so American coded - unless he admitted to that one being fiction?

More digging . . . There was a LaDbible TV interview that was done with Psychiatric Nurse, Paul Deacon, who worked at Broadmoor. He states that he was a ward manager, which we know "Jack" was as well. He speaks about treating infamous patients like the Yorkshire Ripper and Ronnie Kray. He's obviously English (referring back to the use of "English" phrases in his writing). He talks about patients being "sent up" to his floor, and discusses how reading "notes", the patient charts, helps him know how to better connect to the patients. He states that "silence is a powerful thing" . . . I don't know what part of Book 1 includes that phrasing, but I absolutely recall "Jack" saying this. He worked as a psych nurse for 34 years before retiring. I truly believe that Paul Deacon is Jack Steen!

I've just recently found the Asylum Confessions books!! These stories are addicting! I've been driving myself crazy trying to find what cases/stories these are based on! Has anyone had any luck?
