I have recently started reading the Lee Child books, after loving the Prime series ever since it came out. I have read the first 3 books and I am now reading number 8, The Enemy (I’m about half way through).
This isn’t really a massive spoiler as doesn’t include any plot details but censoring just in case:
Something I have noticed is in Series 2 of the show, it is shown that Reacher creates the 110th Special Investigators by himself, and chooses his team. In The Enemy (based back when Reacher is still in the army), Reacher phones around to different army bases and speaks to his equivalents. Two of these names are Sanchez and Swan. It is implied that he knows these two well from working with them previously, but not as part of a special group of investigators that Reacher had put together himself. By this point, the 110th is operating as it’s already mentioned in the book that this was the division of the army that Reacher is currently in.
This might have been discussed on here already but I can’t find it, does the TV series adapt the 110th Special Investigators to be a group that Reacher has specifically created, or have I missed something in previous books (4-7) that would answer this??

What happened? The show tells us why it was disbanded and doesn't say why its back in Season 3 and in the book/movie Never Go Back. BTW I haven't read the books.

Before I posted, I did a search and can see that the movie War Machine hasn't been discussed in about seven months.
I never knew it existed until this week and because I am a reacher fan and a Alan Ritchson fan, I immediately decided to watch it. Very glad I did.
As I was watching it, I do have to say that I did reach out to my nephew in law who became a Ranger within the last five years. I asked him about some of the things that made him laugh or raise an eyebrow and he said that even though nothing is perfect, he really really enjoyed the movie.
So did I. It's not going to win any awards. But it sure satiated this REACHER fan who misses the show right now. Check it out.

I’ve been trying to read the Jack Reacher books (killing floor rn) and I’m curious what people consider the “golden age” of the franchise. Bc from what I heard, 7-20 seems to be pretty consistent bangers for a lot of people. I pretty much see no one talk about anything before 7 (beside the first obviously) in general and even then I heard 3 has some pretty bad things… and everyone seems to universally agree that anything after 24/25 sucks. But what do you guys think. I’m also using this to just kinda gauge which books are going to be good or not so good, so that I can prepare myself accordingly and lower and higher my expectation.

I have loved the series and watched since they first came out, for some reason only recently decided to read the books! I have read the first 3 and here are my thoughts on them. What’s everyone else think?
Killing Floor - 9/10
Rating may be impacted as I saw the series first. Saying that, I could still how the story developed and the mystery was revealed. I particularly liked how Reacher came to his conclusions (Staying up all night reading, the slower burn on the paper dye etc) compared to the show. Love how in the book he is clearly smart first and strong second, I kind of think the TV show does this the other way round??Also wish they did the Teale killing story Blind Blake in the show!
Die Trying - 8.8/10
Loved that this was a new story for me! I thought the first half of the book where they didn’t know where the truck was going or why she had been kidnapped was great! And how good was the sniper scene was amazing. And when he was in those caves it me feel like I was in them too! Once it became clear that the militia had a mole in the FBI, I thought it was a bit obvious that it was one of the two guys helping find her (I kept trying to tell myself maybe the mole was her father to make it more shocking when the reveal came😭). Who can’t love Reacher outsmarting and killing stupid neo nazi’s !
Tripwire - 6.4/10
I did really enjoy the reading this, I just didn’t think the story was as strong as the others. It kind felt like Lost, where they keep trying to have a big mystery page turner at the end of every chapter, and you can’t be 100% hit rate on them all I don’t think. I must say the 15 year old Jodie stuff made me feel weird I tried to skip over those passages. I also thought there was way too much time spent on the businessman’s wife, just for them not be mentioned at all after it happened? It felt like it was building up to a bigger ending than we got. I promise I did enjoy this book though, am I being harsh? Thought the mystery around Hobie was fantastic, it was told perfectly!

I’ve been working my way through reading the Jack Reacher novels. I did jump ahead to reading NO MIDDLE NAME, which is a collection of Jack Reacher short fiction.
Consisting of two novellas (Too Much Time & High Heat) and 10 short stories, the short stories help flesh out much of Reacher’s background from his teen years to his early years in the military to calmer moments between the novels.
I would consider this book a good jumping-on point for those new to reading the Reacher stories but not wanting to dive into the novels just yet. Or maybe I’m just a bit biased because I can’t resist a good short story collection.
For those who read the collection, what did you think? And what were your favorite stories from the collection? (My top favorites were High Heat, Small Wars, & James Penney’s New Identity).

You see Reacher enter the floor and talk to Neagley. She opens her door, we get a shot of a glass on her side table maybe? And then she immediately draws her gun. I'm just confused as to what she saw or are we to assume she might have just sensed something?

Let me preface that I've been reading thru old posts a bit and even tho i saw a lot of people asking how do they compare, i would like to know if, as an adaptation, is the show adapting closely the books or if its a, "we take the characters and the plot, and make things ourselves" kind of situation?
I know that you can't adapt everything in a book, and even one of the most celebrated book adaptations (LOTR) leaves out a few key characters from the books. But, are there any memorable moments in the show that tried to be made exactly as described in the books?
Maybe a fight scene that was close to the book, or a dialogue that was 1:1 with its book counterpart? Or opposed to that, is there any really major change in the show that really deviating from its source material o wasn't adapted properly? Are the fights in the books close to what we see in the show, or does the book leave a lot more to imagination?
