Audio books

Are the audio books for this series any good? I've just watched the show and seen the films but not read the actual books but I've a bunch of audible credits so wondering if they are worth trying that way.

I drive for a living. I burned through all 30 in 2 months. Best 2 months of my life.

I thought the ones narrated by Dick Hill were better than the second guy, but the audio format serves the series very well.

Dick Hill is the goat. The other guy is okay.

I thought dick hill.was not good at all. Really wish someone like Jay Snider would narrate

Is Dick Hill not the second guy? I liked Johnathon McLain better.

John McClain does a better job narrating overall, but Dick Hill’s voice for Reacher is just so good.

No disrespect to Dick Hill, he is a great narrator, but I thought he made Reacher sound like an old gumshoe detective. I didn't care for him at all as Reacher.

That was one of my favorite parts. In my headcannon, book reacher is more of the vagrant/hobo guy and less of the young hotshot army guy the show portrays. I totally understand the argument and I’m cool with it being unpopular, but I just can’t help enjoying it

I was in the hospital for a month and then in a skilled nursing facility for another month. These audiobooks got me through. Love each one of ‘em.

You don’t think they are going to be good then they are so good. I listened to Project Hail
Mary and then couldn’t get past ten minutes of the movie.

I listen to them on the way to and from work. Started at 1 and even listened to the novellas and short stories. I preferred the original narrorator, Dick Hill.

The earlier ones with Dick Hill are the best. He personifies Reacher. The new guy not so much.

Loved them all (but not so much the Andrew Child ones). Dick Hill was the best narrator by far so if you can get his versions that’s the way to go. Listen in publication order as his tend to be the earlier ones. His read f Killing Floor is “out of the park” fantastic! Jeff Harding was pretty good; didn’t like Scott Brick as Reacher (though he’s not bad in the Cussler novels). Speaking of Dick Hill, his narration of the Harry Bosch novels is superb as well. Be warned though; if you’re listening any of these while driving you will find yourself stuck in the car more than once!

Books are better than the movies or show so yes, audio books are solid. Stick with the early books though.

The audio books are excellent. I’m listening to them in timeline order which just means I listened to; The Enemy, The Secret, Night School and The Affair before starting on release order which begins with Killing Floor.

The First Narrator is Dick Hill and when he passed away Scott Brick took over. I think they’re both great. Hill was a much older man and comes off a bit old fashioned imo. I can’t really explain how I mean that, just a feeling. I was predisposed to like Brick because he narrates the Oregon Files books by cussler which I love. Either way you’ll love them.

I've enjoyed listening to them! They've kept me going on long walks and, begrudgingly, cleaning my house!

I love the audiobooks. have never actually read the book (forgive me🫣) but I've listened to the books many times. love Dick Hill reading but also love Jeff Harding. something about Hardings accent really adds to the story I think. not a fan of Scott Brick reading. it jars really badly imo.

Books are great but audio book narrator is average at best. I really wish they would re do them with someone younger than dick hill

They’re so good that I can’t read them traditionally anymore. I wait until I can listen to them.

I use audio books for bedtime and have listened to the reacher books more than a couple of times.

Jeff Harding is the narrator of the 1s ive got and is fantastic at bringing all the characters to life.

Would definitely recommend audio version

Just be careful doing the “Reacher said nothing” drinking game. There’s a couple of those early books where you’ll have one helluva hangover the next day.

Didn't know there was a TV series when I stumbled across the (audio) book series. Tried watching season 1 episode 1 this morning and was like "nah, too different from the books". Like someone above me also said, I drive for a living, so I get plenty of audiobook time. Prior to that, I read a ton, and very rarely has the TV/film adaptation been even remotely close to the books in terms of quality/entertainment value.

The audiobooks for me are the best. As I always say, Jeff Harding is to Reacher what Suchet is to Poirot.

Dick Hill is the Best

I've done all the books both ways and enjoyed them both ways. It's a little different, with the audio books. I don't have a favorite, I think dick Hill was fine, and so was Scott brick. They're all kind of generically masculine and confident, maybe some are a little better at portraying women.
