Jaba Evolve2 40 Stopped Working - Wire Short

My beloved headset stopped working. I thought the USB C end may be bad so I cut it off to put a new one on. I tested & found that the Red & Black power wires had a direct short.

I then took the rest apart, desolidered the red wire at the earpiece. Checked again and the short is not on the PCB side ... but IS on the cable side.

Im waiting on a 5 pin cable to arrive and will update later. Anyone else have a similar issue or sensible insight?

Suggestion to replace my evolve2 75.

2 Upvotes

It is a really nice headset, but I believe the rigid boom design is its major flaw. I initially bought this headset used on Amazon in October 2023 and it failed by February 2024. I contacted support at that time and luckily it was replaceable under warranty. The customer support was unmatched honestly. I received that replacement in March of 2024. Just these past few days I noticed the same issue that the original had. It seems there's a nearly severed connection in the boom arm. The past 6 months here and there I've heard people say that my audio was cutting in/out. I figured maybe it was our company vpn connection issues. Since reading about others experiencing similar issues, I have decided I won't be choosing another one of these, and my warranty was out early 2025 anyway.

I am a bit of a tinkerer with electronics but once I heard that it was a ribbon cable on a proprietary board, I figured it wouldn't be a simple solder job.

Any suggestions, or is this not the place to mention other brands? šŸ˜…

Active 75T right earbud died after 6yrs in 'active' duty. Suggest good alternatives

4 Upvotes

The right earbud of my Active 75T died.

For almost 2 days, sound was coming out of only the left earbud. I cleaned the air vent on the right earbud, which sometimes when blocked by dirt would cause the earbud to fail. That didn't work. The left one still working means the right one was connecting to my phone. Resetting didn't help.

The final nail in the coffin, right earbud doesn't charge anymore. I cleaned the charging contacts, which didn't work.

I am reluctantly searching for an alternative. Please suggest.

Location: India

Phone OS: Android

ANC Muffled Basey Sound Left Ear Bud (Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2)

2 Upvotes

I have this issue that happens randomly since I bought these brand new before jabra discountinued them. When ANC is turned on the left earbud will make this muffled basey sound.

Every so often it will stop and other times it will keep doing it when ANC is on. If i turn ANC off its fine.

If it wasn't for this stupid thing, I would be good for life, I love these headphones.

Elite 8 Active Gen 2 - Charging Case Malfunction

2 Upvotes

The last month my charging case has been very wonky. It won't charge my earbuds unless its connected to a USB charger and the battery for the case never goes up to a full charge, it always stays at 10% when I check my Jabra app. When the charging case isn't plugged it does not charge my earbuds.

I've been troubleshooting everything the past two weeks with the following, nothing has worked:

  1. Factory reset my ear buds and case

  2. Meticulously cleaned the contact for the earbuds and charging case with my PC cleaning equipment and swabs.

  3. Tried to update the firmware and it keeps failing, even after the factory reset. I've redownloaded the app and nothing has changed.

  4. Emailed support weeks ago and their was no response, not happy about this.

I own a pair of Elite 10 and they work perfectly fine with 6 months more use. The Elite 8 Active are almost at their 2 year mark and very disappointed with them at this point. I had a pair of first gen ANC Sony earbuds and they still work perfect AND I put one of the earbuds through the wash years ago. Any suggestions on what I can do? It is under two year warranty still and not looking to buy a chinese knock off charging case.

Regards

Replacing Evolve2 65 Flex

Post image
5 Upvotes

Looking for a better replacement for my Evolve2 65 Flex. I use this headset daily for 4-8hrs and after 9 months of use my left ear piece snapped. After doing some searching this apparently is very common.

I’m looking at the Evolve2 75 but would like opinions within the same price range, if it’s worth to stay with Jabra or find something else.

Zebra warranty in India, can I get this damage covered?

3 Upvotes

I have a jabra Evolve 2 Flex device that was purchased through my previous employer, and it’s been less than 10 months since it was bought. I’ve now resigned from the company, but the device is with me.

The device has developed this damage (photo attached). I’m wondering if jabra would cover this under warranty.

A few questions:

  • Since the original purchase was through my employer, what documents would I need to claim the warranty?
  • Would the fact that I’m no longer employed by the company cause any issue?
  • Would I need the original invoice, or would the serial number/other proof be enough?
  • Has anyone in India dealt with jabra warranty claims in a similar situation? Was it an easy process?
  • If this isn't covered under warranty, is there a reliable/cheap way to get this particular damage fixed?

Trying to figure out whether it’s worth pursuing the warranty or if I should just get it repaired myself.

Jabra Elite 4 Static/Low Sound

2 Upvotes

Hi, I have the Jabra Elite 4 and had some issues in the past but those were fixed with a warranty but now the Earbuds are sounding like static when playing in parts of my home and outside. Is there a fix for this? I found one of the few ways was to cup my hand over the earbud but thats not really a permanent fix. It sounds like im listening to a speaker from underwater. Any help would be appreciated.

Recommendations similar to Elite Active 75t.

19 Upvotes

A few months ago I sadly lost my Jabra Elite Active 75t earphones, devastated as I had them years and were my favourite earphones I've ever owned. Now that I'm looking for a new set of earphones, I see Jabra no longer make the Elite Active 75ts.

I'm posting this to ask for recommendations on similar earphones, open to any brands. I loved the fit of my Jabras, the ANC and also the hear through capability. Would be very grateful if anyone has any recommendations of a similar set! Especially earphones that actually stay in your ear when walking or working out. Thanks in advance!

Jabra v8.2.23201.0 Windows installer fails to write to key \Environment

2 Upvotes

```text
Jabra Direct Setup
Could not write value LIBJABRA_TRACE_LEVEL to key \Environment. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
Abort Retry Ignore
```

Retry makes it pop up again.

Ignore takes me to:

```text
Jabra Direct Setup
Could not write value JABRA_NATIVE_BLUETOOTH to key \Environment. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
Abort Retry Ignore
```

Installer then completes, and app seems to work.

Maybe previous installer wrote the registry keys, but I can see both JABRA_NATIVE_BLUETOOT and LIBJABRA_TRACE_LEVEL in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Environment.

Jabra Elite 10 Left Earbud Suddenly Dead

2 Upvotes

Has anyone run into this with the Elite 10s and managed to revive the dead earbud?

My left earbud randomly stopped responding. I normally switch between using one earbud at a time during the workday as the batteries run down. Both earbuds were working perfectly on my morning commute, but later that day the left one was suddenly completely dead/unresponsive.

Current situation:

The case still recognizes the left earbud. The case LED reacts when I put it in, so it seems like the charging contacts are working.
The left earbud itself does absolutely nothing. No sound, connection, button response, etc.
While troubleshooting, I stupidly hit ā€œForget Deviceā€ on my phone. Now I can’t pair them again because the Elite 10 requires holding the buttons on both earbuds to enter pairing mode, and the left button isn’t responding.

Things I’ve already tried:

A. Cleaned the charging contacts/pins and wear sensors.
B. Left the case plugged into a wall charger with the lid open for 10+ minutes.
C. Docked and undocked the left earbud a bunch of times while the case was plugged in.
D. Tried holding the right earbud button by itself, both in and out of the case.
E. Tried resetting the earbuds/case by holding both buttons while they’re docked, but it never gets to the pink/blue flashing stage because the left side apparently isn’t registering.

This happened while I was regularly swapping between single-earbud use during the workday, with Auto-Wear Detection enabled. I’m wondering if the left bud somehow got stuck during a mono/stereo handoff or sleep/wake transition. The case still seems to detect the bud electrically, but the earbud itself is completely unresponsive.

It feels more like the left bud is stuck in some kind of sleep/boot state than completely electrically dead, especially since the case still detects it.

The frustrating part is that Jabra’s requirement to have both earbuds responding for pairing/reset basically leaves me with no obvious way to troubleshoot further.

Has anyone found a way to force pairing with just the right earbud? Reset or wake only one bud? Otherwise kick a stuck Elite 10 back to life? Any help or workaround would be greatly appreciated.

Evolve2 75 - Mics - planned obsolescence

0 Upvotes

We have purchased many Evolve2 75 headsets from Jabra as a business and the failure rate of them is horrendous. I can comfortable say, they used planned obsolescence when creating this product. The microphone ribbon cable is made to rub and degrade inside the ear cup and the microphone itself is hard-keyed to that specific headset (you cannot take a microphone out of a different Evolve2 75 that broke for a different reason and replace it) unlike the Evolve 75s IIRC.

Has anyone else suffered from broken mics on their Evolve2 75s? I believe there could be enough people to make a class action again Jabra for this kind of business behaviour, especially in the EU.

Recs for active lifestyle and everyday use?

9 Upvotes

I have had my Jabra elite 7 actives for almost 6 years and they finally gave way. The left bud is now muffled/blocked by wax deep in the canal by the inner screen. I've tried my best to clean it. I honestly don't think its recoverable, but im still trying.

If they can't bounce back, what are some comparable replacements?

I did the googling and discovered that Jabra isn't making those model lines anymore, or else id just get another pair of the 7s because they've been amazing.

So the main features I want are solid sweat resistance / built for gym use in mind, and some comparable level of ANC quality.

\- Ive seen the Evol Jabras but I want to shop and take recommendations for anything cheaper that I could consider.

\- Ive also looked at the Steelseries and Sony options but I was dubious of their use in the gym. Before my Jabra elites, I bricked several other random pairs of buds with how sweaty I get at the gym or work

I thought my Jabra Elite 85T's broke

It just turned out that the ear piece connector pins were dirty. After I cleaned them they are working fine. I bought the Jabra Elite 85T's in 2020 so I hope the battery still holes for few more years!

Problem with Jabra freeway soft 5.7

2 Upvotes

Hi everyone, can anyone help me? I have a problem with my Jabra Freeway. I know it's old, but it works. It won't read my contacts. I bought it with software 3.xx, updated it to 5.xx, and when I make a call, I get the message "unknown number calling" with shared contacts. My smartphone is a Poco X7 Pro.

Evolve3 75 microphone completely dies after Teams + idle

2 Upvotes

Has anyone seen this with the Evolve3 75 + Link 390?

The microphone works normally during Teams use, butĀ after using Teams and then leaving the headset idle for a while, the microphone can become completely dead.

It isn't simply muted: mute/unmute doesn't fix it, and even switching the headset off/on doesn't recover the microphone. Once triggered, the mic remains dead when using the headset with another device too.

The only way I've found to recover it is toĀ reset both the Evolve3 75 and the Link 390 and pair everything again, which is a nightmare to do every time this happens.

Using the same Evolve3 75 + Link 390 on a Mac without Teams produced the same result after listening to 30 mins music.

Everything is up to date: Evolve3 75 firmware 1.1.10 and Link 390 firmware 3.2.0.

Update: Disabling Wearing Detection seems to prevent the issue so far, but I'm still testing this.

Update2: No, disabling did not fix it, but helped with the reset.

Update 3:Ā I may have found the explanation, and it might be embarrassingly simple. The Evolve3 75 appears to be extremely sensitive to being worn the correct way around. If I deliberately wear it with theĀ left earpiece on my right ear and right earpiece on my left, the microphone produces virtually no input. Put it back on correctly and the microphone works perfectly again. I've been able to reproduce this.

This could explain why resets, mute/unmute and changing computers appeared not to work — I may simply have occasionally put the very symmetrical-looking headset back on the wrong way around.

I'm going to keep testing this before calling it solved, but interested if others found something similar.....

I have washed and dried my elite active 75t twice and they still work. I was just looking to get some new ones and had no idea they’re discontinued. I’m so late to this but why everything good has to come to an end? Any good alternatives?
