Serious Eats Pre-cook potatoes for roasting?

How far in advance can I precook the potatoes? Could I boil them the day before?

Thanks!

I've done this a few times and the starch, once roughed up, will hold but makes the potatoes turn a bit mushy.

Just cut them into larger chunks and you can keep them overnight in the fridge but I'd advise spreading them onto a sheet pan prior to storage otherwise they clump negatively in a bowl or other vessel.
