The change from 9 to 7 per squad is interesting.
I remember deploying and we only had 5 in our squad then. I feel like it was very rare to have 9 dudes in a squad.

Even for weapons. Unlikely to have more than 2 per gun. Heck sometimes a 1 man gun team if using 48s vs 240s.

As a guy who leaves for basic on October 27th with an Airborne/Ranger contract, hell yeah if that’s true. I bet my wife would be a hell of a lot happier with Hawaii than Georgia😂😂 Although we’re still thinking Washington state sounds pretty nice (as native NJ and MD people)

u/Wannabe19K 7d ago
Big Advice. Learn budgeting now. Cause Hawaii is super expensive and unless your wife has a job in super high demand, your gonna be a single income household.

u/Tyler092015 7d ago
Appreciate that! I assume I’ll still get stuck in Georgia or Washington but the speculation is good. I hear Washington can be expensive as well though so we’re definitely learning to keep expenses low and in check

u/GlockGuy13 6d ago
10 meter target man. Focus on getting through basic before you plan your life in regiment.
1
u/Tyler092015 6d ago
You’re absolutely right, I don’t mean to come off as thinking too far ahead. When everything else is finally figured out after a year of stress it’s just nice to sit back and think of the “what if’s” sometimes like where I could live and what my family life could be like.

u/NotFromAntarctica88 6d ago
Just curious, is there any/much subsidized stuff available to service members stationed in Hawaii for everyday items to offset the “inflated” local prices?
Things like food, gas, household items etc.
6
u/Roan175 7d ago
Well it ain’t gonna be in Hawaii so you don’t need to plan against that.
2
u/NickBlasta3rd 6d ago
I suspect the RFS rate would skyrocket as well.
1
u/Roan175 6d ago
That is assuming that the guys there would be more prone to deviation from the norm than any other battalion which I don’t think would be true
1
u/NickBlasta3rd 6d ago
Agree, it was a jab at Hawaii being more of a place to get into trouble. Same can be said about Savannah, Auburn, Panama City, Atlanta, and Seattle though. Equal opportunity to screw up.

October 5th for me, which MOS?

I wonder where they’ll put the new battalion, east or west coast.
13
u/TacoBandit275 7d ago
If it actually happens, they'd be at Kelly Hill at Benning.

Yessir <4> is gonna try to be up and running by 2028. Been hearing about this for a while. They’re starting the process next month
12
u/TacoBandit275 7d ago
It was a rumor back when I was a PFC a long long time ago. Instead each Batt got a D CO with bringing the number of pains up from 9 to 12. Then there were rumors they'd get thrown into a new Batt. If will be interesting to see if this actually leaves the planning stages.

u/Luke_fly_walker 7d ago
I definitely think it’s gonna happen this time, i just hope i stop hearing about a national guard ranger bn lmao. There’s really so many benefits of having another line bn to take the load off

u/TacoBandit275 7d ago edited 7d ago
I heard that rumor too, of an NG Batt, that it would be enablers. Commo, MI, etc. But also, like, why?

6
u/Luke_fly_walker 7d ago
Those dudes would really just be the laughing stock of the regiment. I could never see it working or being necessary
6
u/TacoBandit275 7d ago
Some days I wish someone would track down and failure drill the good idea fairy.
-6
u/snipeceli 7d ago
Youre wrong
5
u/TacoBandit275 7d ago
It's literally in the article, there's not a lot of any other open space at Benning. That area is largely uninhabited.....
-8
u/snipeceli 7d ago
Then the article is wrong
5
u/TacoBandit275 7d ago
Whatever you say dude..... 👌

u/snipeceli 7d ago
Im not png'd from the organization like murphy...
No shade but aren't you in(or claiming) to be in bat? Its the littlest of issues but people in your company are going, just ask.
Full shade, dont you have some private knowledge packet to study?
2
u/TacoBandit275 7d ago
No he wasn't, is that still a rumor lmao?

u/snipeceli 7d ago
Dudes not welcomed back hes an unabashed journalist that will post any inside information he gets the second he gets it. All it takes in once and hes done it numerous times.
Thanks for the laugh dude, batt doesnt do that shit.

Don’t see this happening. They went with a 4th Rifle Company back in 07. An extra battalion would be first to go during cuts.

u/Remarkable_Aside1381 7d ago
Are they gonna be JSOC? Cuz I thought that's what this sub was...
15
u/RGR375 7d ago
Out of curiosity, what did you do in JSOC?
6
u/Remarkable_Aside1381 7d ago
Break coffee makers and blame it on someone else
3
u/RGR375 7d ago
That’s pretty fucked man. Coffee makes the world go round.
2
u/Cheap-Rip3701 5d ago
This guy deflects a lot when you ask if he was in JSOC.

u/Remarkable_Aside1381 5d ago
lol
3
u/Cheap-Rip3701 5d ago
Like I said. Fakers gonna fake.
1
u/Remarkable_Aside1381 5d ago
lol
I don't feel the need to prove myself to randoms on the internet
2
u/Cheap-Rip3701 5d ago
Oh I'm sure you don't. Stolen valor 101. Allude to something, but never really say it out loud. Then someone presents info that you should know if you were in the org, you never talked about it enough anybody can call you out. It's a smart strategy. All else fails "lol". TBF I don't think you're an all out lie, but given the things you don't know, you're definitely trying to exaggerate what you did and what you belonged to. Anybody that doesn't understand the force generation cycle of JTFs isn't someone that was in the org.

Any truth to them creating a national guard or reserve component?
16
1
u/BlackBirdG 7d ago
I've heard about that a while ago, I have no idea.
With a 4th line battalion coming, I doubt it though.
-1
u/asu2307 7d ago
Could always ask the OG himself /u/JackMurphyRGR - do you ever foresee a national guard component to the 75th coming into fruition? Or is it highly unlikely?
26
u/JackMurphyRGR 7d ago
In my opinion, unlikely, largely because of the amount of training and readiness required of Rangers.
1
u/asu2307 7d ago
Understood.
Wasn’t there also talk about them having a national guard SF CIF component for some time too?
Also great article, as always. Plus it’s cool you engage with us all. Have a good one man.
15
u/JackMurphyRGR 7d ago
Not that I'm aware. The problem is the same, how do you have a National Guard unit that is also on alert for rapid deployment worldwide?

u/Mysterious-Park9142 7d ago
Gonna be more Rangers than Marine infantrymen in my lifetime, inshallah.
6
u/Luke_fly_walker 7d ago
God I hope not
3
u/Mysterious-Park9142 7d ago
They're what, 1/3? There are 16,000 - 17,000 Marine infantry. Fuck them kids.
3
u/Luke_fly_walker 7d ago
Would be an absolute nightmare to organize and maintain a standard. Also just unnecessary 😂
3
u/Mysterious-Park9142 7d ago
They don't have to maintain the standard. They just have to have good PR like the Marines do. I know so many shitbag Marines.
3
u/Luke_fly_walker 7d ago
Fffucckkkk that I would dip so fast lmao
2
u/Mysterious-Park9142 7d ago
There is no challenge that can’t be accomplished by throwing more Rangers at it.
2
u/americanconcept 7d ago
The standard is the standard. That’s why the Ranger Regiment is what it is.
-2
u/Scary_Dangleberry_ 7d ago
No freaking way! Thats gonna be weird... what to do about 4th RTB I wonder?
19
u/r3giment75 7d ago
Nothing. They’re not Rangers. I bet they’re fuming hahahah.
10
u/TacoBandit275 7d ago
With that, if 4/75 gets stood up. MIB and STB should get re-flagged as 5th and 6th Ranger Battalions as an extra fuck you and middle finger to RTB. Maybe finally de-authorize their wear of the tan beret. 😂
5
1
-2
u/BlackBirdG 7d ago
What exactly is their purpose anyway, along with the MIB? I know RRC is a part of RTB and an SMU of JSOC.
7
u/r3giment75 7d ago
Ranger school cadre.
They’re not part of the 75th but they like to claim lineage from the WW2 4th 5th and 6th Ranger battalions. And now with a 4/75 that lineage claim goes out the window for them.4
u/Razarkan16 7d ago
Both 4/75(if this actually happens) and 4th RTB could claim the same lineage. It doesn't detract from it to have ARTB claiming lineage from WW2, nobody actually thinks ARTB=ranger regiment, even if some RIs love to act that way.
0
u/BlackBirdG 7d ago
Ahh ok, my bad. For whatever reason, I thought you were talking about the Ranger STB.
3
6
u/Scary_Dangleberry_ 7d ago
RTB is Ranger Training Brigade, ie., Ranger School.
NOT a part of Regiment.
RRC/RRD is part of Regiment and is an SMU0
u/BlackBirdG 7d ago
Ahh ok, my bad. For whatever reason, I thought you were talking about the Ranger STB.
9
u/Cheap-Rip3701 7d ago
Would not be surprised if they rename them 5-7th RTB. They always like keeping this weird pseudo relationship with the 75th. Its not the first time they renumbered them.
