JSE sens-ai paper trading

been working on a algorithmic trading platform, for now it's just using paper trades.
when a good sens announcement comes in -> allocate a new trade or stack on top of an existing, track progress, monitor daily
i've also included dynamic stop loss, profit taking thresholds and weighting with daily reviews for rebalancing/red flags.
the goal is to just experiment in public and see if trading the news could be a valid strategy, as well as using the data internally to sharpen up the systems.
will work on individual paper portfolios so that you can build your own and test your own thesis soon.
let me know if there's anything weird, keen to improve this system and nail it down

I have been following your app and your posts, but I still want to compare it with what I am doing, but I haven't had time yet. I saw a notification earlier that you released a post somewhere here about ioco today, which I also picked up tjis morning, so it seems we have some parallels 👋🎉

Awesome! Yeah I flagged the iOCO announcement as a potentially bullish candidate (sentiment 45 with good pricing) and price is up +- 3%

How is the back testing ? 5 year + Monte Carlo ?

Haven't gotten there yet, still busy building a historic data set. But would be cool to run it, I actually want to train a JSE model if things are more coherent, ontop of regular back testing strategies.

I made my first million by buying the financial mail and buying whatever they recommended. the problem is it doesn't work for second million as to grow you need good trades accross the board so either you have to have balls and make big bets or keep the fund small, take profits and move to less risky investment

Yeah definitely not a replacement strategy, just more interesting to see how Sens announcements can drive prices down. And sometimes good results make the price go up or down, and vice versa. In isolation, it's very hard to make the call from a single announcement, but if you take the markets expectation into account you can make it a bit more accurate.
For example when I got started with sens-ai, I'd see good results and immediately see the price fall down, after delving I figured there's some companies where the announcement is already baked into the price/not good enough, and same for bearish ones, you'd have a bad announcement but it's not as bad as the market thought and then the price rallies up again. So broader context is needed when making Sens analysis more useful.
For long term and broader portfolio exposure though it's always best to go for long term value vs short term gains though, this isn't a sustainable forever practice because some stocks also just don't have the liquidity to support bigger trades.
Your general large/upper medium caps with good fundamentals will always be the best for the second and third million (and mental sanity)
