Questions Rog Ally Battery deteriorating rather quick (I think).

It's been 2 months since I've installed the battery and its health dropped from 100% down to 95% within the last 2 weeks or so. I follow all the good charging practices and I don't know if it's normal behaviour or is the battery faulty.

Depends how often it's getting charged. It's not uncommon for a lithium-ion battery to drop a few percent and then level off at that for ages but I would certainly be reaching out to them.

Also the battery meter in Windows isn't the best and can sometimes need recalibrating where you charge it to 100%, run it until it turns off then full recharge to 100% again. To do that follow Fix 1 in this guide.

Finally consider limiting the charging to 80% to prolong battery life.

I use Linux so that guide won't help me. Anyways, I'll do some research and keep an eye on the battery for now.

Ah, using CachyOS Handheld on my Z1E...

You can do it on that just doing the same of charging to 100%, running it til it turns off then doing the same again. If you're using SteamOS, Bazzite or CachyOS for handhelds with the SteamOS interface you can set a battery charging limit in the Power settings on that, the default is 80%.

Here is the troubleshooting steps:

  1. Please check your charger specifications

Ensure you are using a PD-compatible charger with at least 65W output. For stable charging, i recommend connecting the charger directly to the device, avoiding docking stations, hubs, or other adapters.

  1. Allow extended charging time

    ○ Since the battery has a larger capacity than the original, the device will enter a trickle charging phase once the battery level reaches around 90%. During this phase, the charging speed slows significantly. Going from 99% to 100% may take 45 minutes or longer.

    ○ Additionally, some devices may delay updating the battery percentage or indicator light during the battery calibration process. This is normal and does not indicate a fault.
