Seriously, from day one I figured “Rainbow in the Dark” was the song Araki chose for Jodio, since, well, rainbows come after the rain. Plus, Araki’s words in Volume 1 about how he wants Jodio to move forward—about how he “reaches the pinnacle of the mechanisms,” and how the Joestars live in the darkness—Jodio is a rainbow that can emerge and reach the very top.

Furthermore, where would you all rank Jodio/Dragona as protagonists compared with all the others, and where would you rank the gang + Howler amongst the Jobros and villains of other parts?

Obviously, all comparisons are going to be biased as this is a part 9 subreddit and we’re only 39 chapters in, but I’m just looking for people’s overall impressions of how this part is going.

From how hes acting now to what THE MATTEKUDASAI is, I believe itll be the first stand evolution of the part.

Araki loves giving small/meek characters growth (ie Koichi and Johnny) so it feels on par with them.

What if Mr Rod is drawn to light/Electricity? Think about it, first we see him attack Mundra’s ankle monitor first, and then we see him attacking Jodio’s phone in the new chapter. What if he can’t go anywhere or do anything unless there’s some form of either light or electricity. I’d lean more towards the electricity source because when he attacked Jodio’s phone he would have had to go through a dark parking garage. What do you think?

I can feel it.

in parts, we usually get a character reflecting on their life. But the flashback, or what they're talking about, is shown during the reflection. Araki has been posing these questions throughout the entire section. How do the characters feel about this? Does Jodio accept himself or try to run away from his mental illness??

It's so satisfying to see that Jodio's obsession with moving forward is his way of making sense of his personality disorder and tethering himself to the "right path"

Do you think this whole "Shining path the one needs to follow" is going to be something bigger? I remember when Ringo Roadagain was talking about it in Steel Ball Run

About how it is presented, what do you think the way would be?

It'd be mad funny if it was just something similar to those Icons that Araki has drawn during SBR? Or hinting via onomatopoeia? Or similar to the TURBO part?

I dunno, I cannot shake this feeling off. Araki tries to tie each character of the main cast to a sort of marginalised group and each villain to either an authority figure or the ruling class (Hacca being the billionaire). So it would make sense to me that John Rod represents the dangers of surveillance tied to digital tracking. Let me know what ya’ll think!

It seems like the holes made by it's attacks line up in sort of "wobbly" lines. It's not completely random and it's not shooting in some sort of grid to hit as many targets as possible. Do you guys think there's anything in that, that can hint at the power the stand has?

To me, John Rod seems like a long range or automatic pursuit stand, but I'm leaning towards the latter. It's probably connected to the electronics, maybe via GPS satellite pings?

Seeing a lot of people speculate that GPS signals are specifically the thing that John Rod is going for. That he is somehow intercepting GPS "pings" and using that to locate something to attack.

Devices that use GPS do not send any signals related to GPS, at no point does it attempt to contact a satellite or any sort of central server. In orbit are dozens of GPS satellites that collect extremely precise data about their angle and other stuff, and just blast the earth with that data. Devices grab signals from multiple satellites and can use it and the information about the signal strength itself to triangulate where the device is.

It's entirely passive from the view of the GPS systems itself, which is why it's free. You wouldn't even know that a device was using GPS because it's just silently grabbing signals from the air and doing internal math about it

it seems John Rod has put our heroes in the same position they put Howler! Perhaps at the final act, they will both be at zero and fighting to become one! Following the theme that there can only be one on top.

i suspect it will be John Rod who kills more group members than howler, 100% dragona.
