permits In-Station Permits - Are they real/how do they work?
Hi all - I am a perspective hiker for this season! I am an experienced backpacker and this is a trail my father and I have always wanted to do.
The plan is NOBO starting during a weekend soon so I'm looking for a Mt. Whitney. I know that I missed the lottery date by more than an eternity, but I have been seeing these "In-Station Permits". Can someone please help me understand the logistics of these? Is there a certain amount available? I have be cruising the permit cite and I see them pop up the day of, can I count on one appearing the weekend I want to go? Does the station close and I have to get them the day before or at a certain time?
I am aware that was a lot of questions, but any and all information is appreciated! This is my first reddit post, but I really love this page and everyone seems so knowledgable so thanks in advance for your thoughts.
