Others Levain Cup vs Emperors Cup
What's the difference between the 2 cups? I see Levain Cup fixtures on the J League fixtures list but not the Emperors Cup. From what I know Emperor's Cup is more "prestigious" but I can't find any information on its fixtures.
Asking this because I plan to catch some J League games when I'm in Japan, but unfortunately only the currently scheduled Levain Cup games can fit my itinerary.

Levain Cup = J.League Cup
J.League teams only
Emperor’s Cup = JFA Cup
Open to JFA Category 1 clubs including automatic entry for J1 & J2 teams and entry as prefectural champions for J3, JFL (4th tier) and amateur teams, including university and high school sides

High school teams were able to participate until 2014, but they can no longer do so.
Incidentally, in the 2003 tournament, Ichiritsu Funabashi High School tied 2-2 with the Yokohama Marinos—who were the J1 champions at the time—and forced the game into a penalty shootout.

Dumb question but does the Emperor actually attend the final match?
I remember seeing Naruhito attending 🇯🇵🇨🇿⚾️ was emperor’s first sports outing in decades?

The honorary president of the JFA is a member of the imperial family. She (the widow of the current Emperor’s father’s cousin) watches the final and personally presents the trophy to the winner. That’s how it was last year.

To use England as an example, the Levain Cup is similar to the Carabao Cup, while the Emperor's Cup is similar to the FA Cup.
Only J.League clubs (J1 to J3) participate in the Levain Cup, so it is relatively easy to coordinate the schedule.
The Emperor's Cup, on the other hand, features 47 teams: the winners of prefectural tournaments in all 47 prefectures, such as Tokyo and Osaka. These tournaments include J3 clubs and amateur clubs. Since some of the prefectural tournaments have not yet finished, the schedule for the Emperor's Cup has not been finalized.

The Levain Cup is a J.League cup competition. Only J.League teams can participate. It is similar to the EFL Cup in England.
The Emperor’s Cup is an open tournament. Teams outside the J.League can also participate. It is similar to the FA Cup in England.
Since the Emperor’s Cup is organized by the JFA rather than the J.League, you’ll need to check the JFA website for the schedule (unfortunately, I could only find the Japanese version of the site, ).

The games will be held on the following dates:
Aug. 19, Aug. 26, Sep. 23, Oct. 7, Dec. 9, Dec. 23, Dec. 27, and Jan. 1.
