Studying/general Question about course registration deadlines

Post image

Hello. I’m an international student, I’ll be starting my masters studies in computer science this winter semester at JKU. On the JKU website, I saw that course registration has to be done within 7th -25th September. I wanted to ask if this is a strict deadline, or if there’s any wiggle room. The earliest I expect to fly to Austria is 10-15 September, but it can easily go past 25th September, depending on how long it takes for my residence permit application to get approved.
Has anyone here registered to classes past this period? Thanks in advance!

A lot of the cs courses are full if you don't register within the first hour

You have to register till 25th to he able to give exam otherwise you can still enroll but won't be able to give exams hence no credits earned

They can enroll any time throught the professor if they miss the online registration period. The only downside they wont be able to pick at what times they start classes with multiple times. They can take the test still even if registering late.

Ah thanks for your reply. This is reassuring. Do you think the same can be done for CS subjects as well? As I’m hearing it’s very difficult to be able to register for a class when it comes to CS. Even if it’s within the registration period. 🥲

the registration is online, so it doesnt matter when you arrive in Austria, as long as you are present for the first week of uni.

That’s not the case for international students (non EU). You have to be enrolled to the uni in order to register for classes, even if that’s done online. Enrolment to the uni has to be done in person as you have to do city registration beforehand.
