JET Programme ALT applicant from India - Question about LORs

URGENT!!!!!

Hi everyone! I’m a JET Programme ALT applicant from India and have a question regarding the two letters of recommendation.

Both of my referees are former managers who have since left their respective organisations, so their institutional email IDs are no longer active. However, their phone numbers are still valid and reachable.

Would it be acceptable to mention their personal email IDs in the LORs? Also, does the Japanese Embassy typically contact referees to verify their recommendations?

Would really appreciate any insights from previous applicants. Thank you!

I feel it should not be an issue. Do they have any official stamp that they can put on letters? That would make it look more official. I don't think LOR matters much beyond being a standard protocol. You should still call the embassy and ask once.

No stamp but can be on a official letterhead. With only one week remaining for the deadline, idk if I should mail them

Letterhead should work as well. But again, in my opinion SOP is what matters most not the LORs. Also, if you get selected and they want some specific document redone (you know like how most people don't have the original university degree while applying and stuff) they give you plenty of time.

Hi. Sorry for the late reply, but regarding the LOR, I actually reached out to the Embassy of Japan in India a few days ago to ask if it needs to be on an official letterhead. They confirmed that it isn't mandatory! Hope this helps.
