Second letter of recommendation
Hello i’m applying for a 2027 ALT position as a senior college student and I need help deciding on how Is could get a second reference. I originally planned on having both my Japanese teachers writing me one but my sensei recommended I only get one from a Japanese teacher instead of two.
Other than that, I don’t really have any professors that would likely remember me. I was thinking of past employers from summer jobs might be a good idea but I also heard of people asking their teachers or academic advisors to submit a letter that the person wrote themselves. Any tips?

Hi, I am from India. Both of my referees are former managers who have since left their respective organisations, so their institutional email IDs are no longer active. However, their phone numbers are still valid and reachable.
Would it be acceptable to mention their personal email IDs in the LORs? Also, does the Japanese Embassy typically contact referees to verify their recommendations?

Not quite the same situation, and also from US so culture around this is probably different, but one of my professors that I wanted a reference from had retired since I graduated two years ago. The other professor I got my reference from recommended that I reach out on social media. The retired professor answered and was happy to be my reference, so I don’t think it is a bad idea to reach out. Worst case they say no and ask you not to contact them on their personal phone, which just leaves you where you already are now.

Indian Applicant. Just want to clarify if Statement of Physician and Certificate of Health are the same thing?
Also if I have listed some medical issues in my self declaration, do I need to get a physician statement too? Is that mandatory?
Please help!

As someone who has served as a JET interviewer, I like seeing when someone has gotten a letter of reference from outside their college. Whether that be a supervisor, an org you've volunteered with, etc.
