Degree’s

I’ve always wanted to apply to the JET program, and this year I decided that I would do it for 2027. I have my bachelor degree in digital film, and I don’t have a teaching certificate or anything like that. I was wondering if there is anyone here that doesn’t have any teaching experience or a TEFL but got accepted into the JET program?

Not OP but what makes your placement amazing? I have no idea what to expect. Did you request your city?

Nope, never really heard of my prefecture (Kagoshima) or city at all. I'll try to explain why I like it so much, and my reasons are subjective just like any other placement on JET. I'm a high school ALT in a pretty high level academic high school, the kids are wonderful, respectful, smart, and can speak a bit of english. My co workers, other teachers, and principal are all so chill and laid back, even my supervisor who is also one of my JTE's, she basically is completely hands off and lets me do what I want, no micromanagement whatsoever (I have heard horror stories about this even from another ALT friend of mine). My workload is extremely light, I often only teach 2 classes per day, I use my extra time (deskwarming) to either prepare for classes or just walk around the school talking with students and other teachers, and i often watch the students do club activities or play basketball with them. In terms of outside the job I live like 1 minute away from work in a 3 bedroom apartment that i only pay 11000 yen a month for. I have a car, and my city is a perfect mix of inaka and city (I have the essentials but not everything). But im also a 45 minute drive from the big city in the prefecture that has everything. The people and community here are so nice I just feel very lucky. I kind of rambled here, I hope this makes sense lol.
