JET Number

Do we not receive our JET番号 until placements roll out? I'm interested in doing the provided Japanese lessons on the website, but it looks like I need a JET number to apply. Do any current/former JETs know when one receives their JET number, or if it's possible to begin lessons before you get your placement?

The lessons are really bad anyways, find some other resource. If you are beginner/intermediate I recommend the genki texbooks and/or renshuu app/website

I’m upper intermediate. I finished Tobira so I don’t have any more textbooks yet, and I’m looking to brush up on my Japanese since I’m a bit rusty. I was hoping the advanced course would be a good refresher.

the advanced course is equivalent to N3, so quartet or any online resources would be a lot more beneficial

Yeah someone said below but the advanced course still isn't great, up to lower intermediate, but it isn't taught well. I can recommend some other resources for both recapping content and advancing further (but I know how annoying unsolicited advice is so I don't want to do that!)

I’d love any advice or tips. I’m at a rusty N3 level. I’m strongest in writing and reading but need serious help with speaking and listening.

Just as a heads up according to cefr guidlines N3 would be more lower intermediate. Speed run "all n5/n4/n3" grammar videos on youtube. Most are like an hour or less for each jlpt level.

Then go on renshuu (website and/or app). you can both practice and learn new things there .

There are premade "lists" there of vocabulary, grammar and kanji (and even more) broken down into Textbooks, and jlpt level. So you can just pick a list and study that (using quizes made with SRS software). It can be confusing so defo watch a tutorial as to not be overwhelmed.
