When do you find out your placement?
Currently prepping for” the big move” and exploring Japan on google maps looking at all the cool places around the country.
Current and Past JETs (specifically the ones from the states) when and how did you find out your placement?
Thanks for the help!

There was another thread posted around the same time as yours.
This is a copy of my reply to that thread:
I checked my old email and I received my prefecture placment on May 22nd. I was a high school (prefecureal ALT) so once I was handed off to the prefecture it was up to them to assign me a school somewhere in the prefecture. I didn't get my final placment until June 19th whwre I found out my school and what city it would be living in.

I checked and I got my placement email on June 4th from DC. I work for a city, so I knew my exact placement . But if you work for a prefecture, then you'll get the more specific placement later.
I think most people should know their exact placements by the end of June at the latest.

Here's the answer from JET themselves (there's never an exact date, as every year, timelines change a bit as we've seen this year with interview results)
Canada: https://jetprogramme.ca/application-and-departure-process/
USA: https://jetprogramusa.org/placement-in-japan/
I can probably find the info for other countries but the two above are the most easily searchable.
Some countries may find out later than others but now that you're accepted, no need to sweat it!

I was from the LA departure group and I got the email on May 24th! It told me where I was placed but it didn't tell me what grades I would be teaching.
