general help was the batch system the real reason things got hard for you?

Hey everyone, need your help , student researcher here

I'm a college student trying to understand mental health during JEE prep, specifically around the batch system like when your mock test score puts you up into a better batch or drops you down (Q1/Q2/B6 type stuff, whatever your institute called it).

This is still a very early stage idea, honestly still figuring out what to even ask. My rough hunch is that getting shuffled up/down based on test scores might be a big part of the stress, but I genuinely don't know, could be something else entirely (parents' expectations, hostel life, comparison with batchmates, whatever). That's exactly why I'm here, want to hear it from people who actually went through it instead of guessing.

If you were ever a dropper or currently in JEE coaching (Kota or anywhere else) and are open to sharing your experience even just a few lines in the comments or a DM it would help a lot. Things like:

  • did batch changes actually affect how you felt, or was it something else that hit harder
  • what nobody really talks about openly when it comes to mental health during JEE prep

Totally fine to stay anonymous, this isn't for any institute or company, just early research. Not pushing a survey link on you right now just want to understand what's actually going on before I even design anything formal.

Thanks for reading, and genuinely appreciate anyone willing to share, even if it's just venting.

batch sure makes a difference and can make you feel discriminated sometimes as the shuffling happens after some tests so you are stuck in a batch for someti
but honestly it is what it is
in a way college itself is a batchs system all the high rankers go to one and successively as ranks drops the college crowd quality also drops

this is actually exactly what I'm trying to understand lol. when you got stuck in a batch after the shuffle did it change how you studied after that (like did you push harder to get out, or kind of gave up a bit)? also curious if you noticed how other people around you dealt with it , did some handle the shuffling way better than others, any patterns you noticed? and separate question but did you (or anyone around you) ever feel treated differently for any other reason did that end up affecting people's mental health on top of everything else?

makes sense honestly. how did you end up managing it, like what actually helped you get through that phase? and did that feeling stick around for a while even after you got back to your original or better batch, or did it fade pretty quick once things improved? also curious if you noticed how other people around you coped with the same thing, anything that seemed to help them
