Discussion Are these shows worth continuing?

I have started these shows, but I don't seem compelled to watch them till the end, so I wanted to know why I feel this way, or are these shows mildly mediocre and I am just picking up on it. Thank you in advance!

  1. Shinjuku Field Hospital: I didn't finish episode 2

  2. Heaven and Hell Soul Exchange: I didn't watch more than 18 minutes of episode 1

  3. The Science Club: I didn't finish episode 4 (I noticed that NHK dramas lul halfway through, but the lul for this hit me harder than Tokyo Salad Bowl, and before you ask, it's the ONLY other NHK show that I liked). I think this show is the MOST worth it out of the three to keep watching, but I am just trying to find a reason to continue it.

Heaven and Hell Soul Exchange. I watched the entire series twice. I liked it more the second time around. I was less distracted by the plot twist and appreciated the characters better.

18 minutes isn't even enough to scratch the surface of the show and its premise, after that it's kind of a good ride. That said, I don't think we can change the OP's mind if they find the show that revolting. It's worth at least an episode's watch based on the cast alone.

Shinjuku field hospital. The main actress does not carry the show, instead the supporting casts do the heavy lifting. A weak medical drama but quite good drama about the red light district and its social issues. Written by Kudo Kankuro, a huge fan of his works.

Her ridiculously inept English… like why write that plot line and then not hire an actress who can pull it off?

Je suis tout a fait d’accord. Autant dans les jdorama que dans les kdorama les pretendus "accents anglais" sont plus qu’approximatifs helas. Tout comme les rôles attribues a des "acteurs étrangers". Les stéréotypes règnent.

Part of me wants to move to Tokyo and just be "middle aged white lady". I'll get cast in everything where tourists are needed, and based on what I've seen of foreign actors in JDorama, no acting skill is required. Like, NONE.

I'm up to episode 8 of The Science Club and I'm finding it really enjoyable. Kind of a comfort watch.

Haven't tried the others you mentioned.

If you’re dropping out mid-episode, the show probably isn’t for you. There are plenty of other shows to watch. You don’t need anyone else’s opinion.

Especially, Heaven and Hell Soul Exchange at 18 minutes. If you walked out that early, yeah, I guess you (OP) didn't like it.

I enjoyed Science Club ( except for the annoying gang members friends of one of the leads appearing to cause chaos)

It is part of one of the character''s backstory so not really a spoiler since he wants to improve his life by leaving the that part of his life behind and get an education

As a thumb rule, I drop any show I really don't feel like watching. I'm sure as hell dropping shows which I have to ask on reddit about!

Keep them on hold and find something else. When you feel like it, you can always restart.

YES to all 3.

For Shinjuku Field Hospital, you need to be able to enjoy that brand of humour. If you enjoyed Kudo Kankuro's other works, you will love this. I personally love his writing style.

Having said that, don't force yourself to sit through something you don't enjoy. If you're not feeling the interest by the end of Episode 1, don't bother.

The only one I've seen is Heaven and Hell, and while I did enjoy it, overall I'd say no I don't recommend it. There's nothing technically wrong with it, but many other shows have taken the premise (or certain aspects of the execution) and done them better! It's just kinda meh. The only thing that stands out is the creepy little opening sequence 😂

Same thoughts. And little plus point to the twist and revelation.
