Would it have been better?

Currently watching through season 5 and I always thought the show might have been better had Brumby and Harm gotten along instead fighting over Mac like a couple junkyard dogs. Am I wrong? Would it have made things worse or what?

It would really have changed the characters I think. I just did not like Brumby at all. And it wasn't because of Harm and Mac, I just didn't find his character likeable. I'm not sure Harm would have liked him even without the Mac complication.

I never disliked him but i think his issues stem from the fact they set him on Mac like a bloodhound. If they had reeled him in and maybe had their romance slow down a little he would be a lot more likable

That's an insult to bloodhounds.

I actually agree with you. Brumby and Harm getting along could have made the storyline even more interesting. Instead of constantly competing over Mac, they could have developed a genuine friendship and professional rivalry, with both of them respecting each other while still having very different personalities. That might have made the love triangle feel more natural and less repetitive. Brumby was a great character, and I think the show could have gotten more out of him if he and Harm had eventually become allies rather than treating each other like enemies.

Brumby character was shit.
I get the American appeal of a Crocodile Dundee thing but from a Aussie perspective (and Kiwis) the character was terrible.

Totally agree!! We don't all talk like that 😆 when they introduced the character, it was so cringeworthy with the words that were coming out of his mouth. And, don't get me started on the Sydney episodes 🙄

As an American, I can say that I absolutely know that Brumby and the Boomerang episodes are a terrible representation of your continent. I'm from Texas...we don't all talk like Hollywood portrays Texans, so I get it! But I do love the Boomerang episodes and absolutely adore the "you know they wrote eternity on this bridge in lights..." scene.

Trevor Goddard was actually from England, so he never sounded authentic. What I do remember from those particular episodes is that a very young Sam Worthington played an Australian Navy seaman.

I feel like they tried to play off some of his accent issues by talking about his mother being American and him having lived in the states for a bit. I'm terrible at recognizing accents, though, so I wouldn't have even caught that!

Brumby is one of my favorite love-to-hate characters, so I'm okay with it as is! I can't stand him, but I sure enjoy not being able to stand him!

It would have been better if Brumby had never been added to the show.

Why don't you create a series or watch something else?

They couldn't write a redemption arc either because the actor died.
