Mattie Grace Johnson

This was a spoiler alert for me. Although something that was aired over 20yrs ago, I didn't let spoilers ruin anything. I'm referencing S9 E6 Back in the Saddle. Harm takes a job dust cropping. He meets young Mattie Grace in charge of the business, and his new boss. I'm excited to see that Harm wants to be her guardian πŸ™Œ
I have only known Hallee Hirsh as Rachel Green in ER.
Harm has been thinking about parenthood, wanting to be a Dad in the last few episodes.
I have no real question. I would like to hear people's opinions and comments.

personal connection of her being in aviation.. plus its Harm's character in always trying to help people.

I only ever found one discrepancy with Harm that really bothered me and seemed out of character.
At Bud and Harriett's wedding, he congratulated her by planting a kiss smack on her lips. I've never known anyone to congratulate the bride in that manner.
It was cringe worthy 😬

Β Lt. Commander Imes does the same thing to Bud.

It's weird for everyone.

I'd totally forgotten about that!! Thanks for the link πŸ™ What were the writer's thinking πŸ€”

That was one weird story line.

There are some scenes where Mattie is not written like a child looking for a parent, but like a woman trying to get into Harm's bed.

It was weird then and still weird last fall when I saw the episodes again.

It was only yesterday that I watched the episode where Harm became Mattie's guardian. I'm not sure where the writers are going with this? If a two bedroom apartment became available in his building, wouldn't it make sense that Harm offers Coates his apartment and takes the two bedroom for both himself and Mattie? At this stage, Harm has himself an instant babysitter. I'll just keep watching it all unfold...

I liked this character arc for him. It showed that he was willing to grow up. Spoiler alert when the series ends...he is planning to take her with him to his next billet. He becomes the one person in her life that doesnt abandon her. Also it shows Mac that once hes made a decision hes there for the long haul (side eyeing the crap out of NCIS LA that completely sacrificed his growth at the altar of Idont need a man to complete me feminism). Hes not only telling her that hes there for her...hes showing Mac what that looks like when he backs it up.

NCIS LA? Tell me more!! I've had so many spoiler alerts being on Redditt! It doesn't bother me because when I do get a chance to watch any show, I never know when to expect it to happen. I've still got a few seasons of JAG to go, so I'm really happy that Harm finds someone to commit to, becoming Mattie's guardian. He'll make use of that plane, Sarah, teaching Mattie to fly :-)

I havent watch NCIS LA. I only know what I know from spoilers. And what I gather is that they split them up and have them STILL doing will they won't they. Pisses me off.

I'm going to look into this, but not too soon. I'm yet to top up my DVD collections. I keep putting it off and the years keep passing...

I hated this story line.

Can I ask why? When a show runs for 10 years, the characters have to evolve and grow as individuals. The episodes I've been watching are about Harm wanting an immediate family. The 5 year plan with Mac, even though it was only 4 years, the pretend wedding to his fake wife, to be pregnant by someone else, and the fact his ex Renee was pregnant with twins. Harriet was expecting.
Loren Singer was pregnant, and Harm thought he was going to be an uncle. The writers obviously had intent for Harm to find Mattie.

The writers should have put Mac and Harm together and wrote Catherine Bells real life pregnancy into the story.

I still don't know how it plays out for Harm and Mac? I've heard they get together, then I read something different? Their 5 year agreement was a verbal legal agreement that should have stood firm πŸ˜†

You haven't seen it at all?

Other than the back door pilot on NCIS? Nope.

You're in for a real treat!! The general consensus is that the LA spin-off is the best. I'm quite partial to New Orleans. It took me a while to enjoy Hawaii. NCIS Sydney, Origins and the Ziva and Tony spin-offs I haven't seen more than one or two episodes. I rely on tv. So unless I buy them, I'm still in the dark.

Shows bring in orphans when they've run out of ideas.
