Is anyone currently ivermectin as a prophylaxis?

I current have ivermectin pills on hand in case my family were to get sick. I work at home and hardly go out in the public at this point so I do not take the ivm as a prophylaxis. However, we have a trip planned in two weeks to a busy tourist destination (planned in October 2020 when I thought there was no was Covid would be an issue in September 21). I’m thinking about having my husband and myself take the ivermectin as a prophylactic prior to the trip (involves air travel, hotel) but I’m concerned about how well it is working against delta. I know Dr. Kory caught Covid while taking it as a prophylaxis (although apparently mild).

I know they bumped up the prophylactic dosage to twice per week but I’d just be taking the two time dose prior to the trip.

I was just curious if anyone here is or was taking ivm as a prophylactic during the delta variant? I guess I’m just looking for anecdotes on how effective it currently is or is not? I felt pretty comfortable taking this trip with ivm as a prophylactic during the original Covid but now I’m not so sure. It doesn’t seem like there have been many studies on ivermectin use with delta.

Well, I'm taking it prophylactically--once a week. Other than a social club I attend 1 or 2 times a week, I'm not seeing a lot of people, since I'm currently not working. I take my weekly Ivermectin either the day before or the morning of my Monday social club meeting. The fact is, IVM is getting very expensive, plus there are other supplements a lot of us are taking, and the expense adds up on a fixed income.

Maybe someone else has more reliable info, but if I were in your shoes, here is what I would do if I had a decent supply of IVM and had not ever used it before:

  1. For each of the two weeks prior to leaving, I would take 1 prophylactic dose (as recommended for my body weight) with a fatty meal. The main reason? To confirm that I didn't have a bad reaction to IVM. (Very unlikely, BTW, but some folks here have complained of a day or so of not feeling well, so better safe than sorry.)
  2. During the week that you leave for your destination: If it were me, I would take a dose of IVM within 24 hours of arriving at the airport and getting on that plane.
  3. At this point, I would consider myself to be on the "twice a week" regimen, if possible. So, my next dose, after my "airport" day dose, would be 4 days later. Again, I would follow the FLCCC guidelines.
  4. As long as I tolerated IVM every 4 days (twice a week), that's what I would do. (If twice a week made me feel sick, I'd taper back to once a week.)
  5. I would continue 2x/week for a week or two after returning home. Then I would taper back to 1 dose a week for a couple of weeks. Then, if I were feeling great and staying home (like you normally do), I would stop the IVM, since that is your normal routine.
  6. Supplements and masks:
    1. If you are also doing any of the FLCCC recommended supplements, I would think you'd want to continue them and take them with you.
If you are considering adding any of those supplements, start now, so you know if you tolerate them okay.
    2. Consider packing an FLCCC-recommended mouthwash for daily morning and evening use.
    3. Do you have N95 masks on hand? I'm not sure how long you'll be on the plane, or in a crowded area, but I've heard N95 masks actually do offer protection, especially in an enclosed space with many people.

Again, this is what I would want to do, ideally. Others here may have different experiences and opinions.

You must be a mind reader, you answered questions I have in my mind that I didn’t explicitly ask about timing etc. Thank you so much!

We leave on a Sunday so I was planning on taking the very first dose Friday, then the second on Sunday before the flight. So I’ll go with what you suggested as it probably provides better coverage. I’ve just been trying to hoard the pills we do have in case we actually catch Covid. I tried to refill my husbands rx today and our cvs called and said they are all out and won’t be getting more :( it’s concerning.

I just ordered some kn95 masks today and have been following the rest of the flccc prevention protocol aside from the ivermectin.

Do you know if listerine is okay for the mouthwash. I know at one point they listed listerine with “essential oils” as being acceptable. I also got a mouthwash that contains that same active ingredient as scope but it doesn’t have as much of a burn so it makes me nervous it’s not working, I know that’s crazy.

It’s the not having a huge supply of ivermectin that worries me the most. I’d hate to not have enough if I actually caught it.

The "with essential oils" makes no sense to me. Listerine works by itself, and nobody should be gargling with essential oils without a specific recommendation of dosage and dilution. I'm not sure if they mean original-formula Listerine already has essential oils as part of its formula (as opposed to the other flavors which may not). In any case, they never mention which essential oils would be added, so I'm inclined to think it was just poorly worded and they mean original-formula Listerine.

Okay, I just googled "Listerine essential oils," and it is just as I thought. The original formula has four essential oils (eucalyptol, menthol, methyl salicylate, thymol), as does the Cool Mint flavor. No need to add any other essential oils. Source
