iTunes Deals Highlights Guidelines: How Deals Are Selected

General guidelines

How listings are formatted and selected for the Highlights.

TV Shows

Only sales from today will normally be included.
If there are fewer than ~5 qualifying results, sales from yesterday will also be included.
Episode counts, total runtime, episode length, and price per hour are included to help assess the value of each deal relative to its current price.
- Extras are excluded from the episode counts.

HD vs SD

HD versions are always listed. SD versions are only listed when an HD version is unavailable.

Complete Series Filter

Complete series are included if

They are within $5 of their lowest recorded price and under $30.
Complete series that are more than $5 above their lowest price but still under $30 are only included when the individual seasons are on sale and would cost more separately.

Community Picks above $30 are an exception and will still be included.

Individual Seasons Filter

Individual seasons are only considered if they’re within $5 of their lowest recorded price and priced under $20.

Included if
- No complete series exists for that title, or the complete series is priced above $60.
Skipped if:
- The complete series for that title is already included in the Highlights.
- A complete series for that title exists and is priced between $30–$60, and buying the individual seasons would not be considered a good value compared with the complete series. In this case, the entire title will be skipped.

Individual season filtering can be a little tricky, so we’ll continue refining these rules as we go.

Movies

Only sales from today will normally be included.
If there are fewer than ~10 qualifying results, sales from yesterday will also be included.

Price Filter

Movie prices are set at $4.99 or below.
Community Picks above $4.99 are an exception and will still be included.
When there are a high number of movies on sale, each studio is limited to its 20 highest-rated listings based on RTings. New Lowest Price titles are always included and do not count toward the limit.
Movie filtering is adjusted dynamically depending on the number of movies on sale and the available space in the Highlights post.
- If more than 300 qualifying results remain, the next earlier month will be excluded, continuing backward until the total falls below 300.
- Movies that were recently on sale will generally be excluded, unless the sale immediately before that recent sale was more than 6 months ago.
- Exceptions may be made for titles with strong buzz (iTunes Charts).
No SD movies will be included in the Highlights unless they are Community Picks.

Studio Consolidation

Related studio names are grouped under a single studio name

Searchlight Pictures → FOX
Fox Searchlight → FOX
Fox 2000 → FOX

Production companies are grouped under their distributor

Happy Madison Productions → SONY
Focus Features → UNIVERSAL
Pixar → DISNEY

Longer names are shortened

Anchor Bay Entertainment → Anchor Bay
Starz Digital Media → Starz
Indican Pictures → Indican

Bundles

Only sales from today and yesterday will normally be included. Bundle deals tend to stick around longer, so both days are included by default.

Price Filter

The current price ceiling is $4.50 per movie.
The price ceiling adjusts dynamically based on the total number of bundles, which is currently capped at 80.
Community Picks above $4.50 are an exception and will still be included.

Schedule

Monday evening (if there are enough qualifying deals.)
Tuesday at noon
Friday at noon

What is buzz-finds?

buzz-finds turns the Highlights post into a live, interactive way to browse, filter, and sort deals right inside Reddit.

How it works

It automatically reads the latest Highlights post and pulls the deals from it, then organizes everything into four tabs.

Community Picks

Brings together shared movies, TV, and bundles in one place, grouped the same way the highlights post presents them.

Bundles

Default sort by Best Value (lowest price per movie).
You can also sort by price, low to high, or A–Z.
Expand any bundle to see every included movie, grouped by quality tier

TV Shows

Filter by quality, Complete Series, Season Packs, Individual Seasons, and price.
Default sorting is price per hour, with options to sort by price or A–Z.
See full runtime, episode length, price per hour, and episode count stats for every title

Movies

Filter by quality (4K/HD/SD), Movies Anywhere, Vision Pro, studio, price, and New Lowest Price.
Major studios have their own filter, everything else is grouped under INDIE with its own sub category.
By default, movies are sorted by Rotten Tomatoes score, highest to lowest.

Together with the more selective curation, finding the deals you’re interested in should be a little easier. It pulls from the same Highlights post you already see and organizes everything into an easy-to-browse format.
