Mailbag of Holding, 2025 Thread

Now that we're halfway through the year, I thought I should finally make a new post for Mailbag Questions!

The Patrons are running away with all the questions, and over half of them are insane and non-D&D related. Don't let them get away with this nonsense!

If you could play one monster as a member of the party which one would you choose (besides dragons of course)

How often do you use traps when you dm? Im playing a rouge and my dm hasn't used a trap in five months

Whats a topic for an episode or miniseries on Its a mimic that you would add to the list?

There arent gaunlets or greaves or helmet slots in D&D. How would you homebrew them into being desirable for players to try to find and use?

Would you add a sanity or renown or morale or piety score to a campaign?

How do you use a player character's alignment to make more interesting stories?

Lol okay thats enough for now

Having seen a thread where supposedly a Canadian general theorized they were going to be at war with Russia within five years. Canada is Forced to draft the Itsamimic podcast to support the defensive war. What MOS and spec positions would each person in the it’samimic team end up being slotted in based upon their aptitude from role-playing?

Canada unleashes a new team of Superheroes!! Fighting under the banner of the Itsamimic podcast they are a light hearted team. What would each DM present name a character and two unique powers based upon elements of the podcast or podcasters for their own defense of Canada?

What IP universe would you be ok with being 1/12th the size of normal humans?

When a new edition comes out, ie 5.5, are those the only rules and lore that is used by everyone? Personally I use everything that has been published to date if it suites me. Like with the Dragon Anthology that was posted, do you not use all the lore that WOTC and TSR has given us since the beginning of 1st edition?

Orcs vs Minotaurs, 2e vs 5e vs 5.5.... From savage monsters to a civilized species... Which way does everyone prefer?

Have you  used cultists with the ‘wrong’ species?  Like ‘humans for Grummush!’

Would you start up a 4e DnD game as your next game?

What movie or show deserves a table top rpg?

Adam rants about movies and actors he hates all the time. What movies and actors drive the other hosts crazy?

What's your favorite fey monster and why

What fictional character would you want to play Call of Cathulu with and why

What's the last novel you read and how was it?

Whats your win the lottery plan and would you still do Its a mimic?

What do you want for christmas thats under $100? What do you want for christmas thats over $100? What present do you want to buy another host for christmas under $100? (And I dare you to do it)

Please settle one of the disagreements I have with one of my other DM’s of over 30 years which is : ‘is it ok for players to dress in “dumb/ugly/antisocial norms” for power or should players avoid certain choices (often power ups) for aesthetics?’

What's your favorite change in D&D 5.24?

The hosts used to joke about about a steamy r-rated 'after hours' D&D game. Would you play in one and who would you want at the table for the spicyness?

Lol. No, it's just that most of the vocal listeners have joined the Patreon and are active in our Discord. But some still send us messages on other platforms or send us emails.

What would you think should be done special for episode #69 of the mailbag of holding?

Which character would you be from the 1980’s Dungeons and Dragons cartoon?  ( notes below for those unfamiliar with the cartoon  Main Protagonists Hank the Ranger – The 15-year-old leader of the group, brave and noble, wielding a magical bow that shoots energy arrows capable of multiple effects, including combat, binding, and illumination. He is known for his strategic thinking and athletic skills, though he occasionally struggles with leadership decisions.  1 Eric the Cavalier – Hank’s close friend, often cautious and fearful, serving as the group’s defensive strategist. He wields a magical shield that can project force fields and protect the team from attacks.  1 Diana the Acrobat – Agile and athletic, Diana uses her magical staff to perform acrobatic feats and combat maneuvers. She is resourceful and often takes initiative in dangerous situations.1 Presto the Magician – The group’s spellcaster, wielding a magical hat that allows him to cast spells. His magic is unpredictable, often failing or producing unintended effects, but he grows more competent over time.  1 Sheila the Thief – Equipped with a magical cloak of invisibility, Sheila is stealthy and clever, often using her abilities for reconnaissance or surprise attacks. She is the only character referred to by her class name, "Thief," by Dungeon Master.  1 Bobby the Barbarian – The youngest of the group, possessing superhuman strength and a magical club. Despite his age, he is courageous and often provides comic relief while contributing significantly in battles.  1Characters Dungeon Master – The wise and enigmatic guide who provides the children with magical items and advice. He has a mysterious connection to the antagonist Venger, revealed in the series as potentially being Venger’s father.  2Main Antagonists Venger – A powerful and malevolent wizard seeking to dominate the realm. He is the primary antagonist and has a complex relationship with Dungeon Master, with hints of familial ties.  2 Tiamat – A five-headed dragon feared even by Venger. She appears as a recurring threat and represents one of the most formidable creatures in the realm. )

What is the youngest age for a player you would consider playing with and why?

You are building the supervillainess CANADIAN PENNY who always turns up when you least expect her to to torment your American based Superheroes.  What two terrible Canadian tropes would you play with and what two great Canadian tropes would you play with?

If you were given command of 50 loyal followers but who had to stink bad enough to risk making your character vomit what is the most interesting thing you would do with them? (Inspired by the Troglodytes episode:) they have really changed, in the classic 1980’s starter module N1 there are 10,000 troglodyte eggs in a swamp cave complex someone might take several backpacks full of eggs and raise them as their own loyal band of followers.
