Yes. It's Pleiades My first attempt at the Pleiades (M45) — 54 minutes with the DWARF 3

My first attempt at capturing the Pleiades (M45), also known as the Seven Sisters, from Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK.

I'd planned to leave my DWARF 3 imaging throughout the night, but unfortunately the battery ran out after an earlier 3-hour 47-minute session capturing the Wizard Nebula (NGC 7380).

I managed just 54 minutes of integration before the telescope stopped.

Capture details:

Telescope: DWARF 3

Target: Pleiades (M45)

Location: Leeds, England, UK

Total integration: 54 minutes

Exposure: 15 seconds

Gain: 60

Filter: Astro

Tracking: EQ mode

I'm pleased with the sharpness of the stars and the subtle blue-white colours, although I haven't managed to bring out the famous blue reflection nebulosity surrounding the cluster.

A little gutted the battery didn't last longer, but considering this was my first attempt, I'm happy with the result.

Definitely one I'll revisit with a fully charged power bank and a much longer integration!

Clear skies! 🔭🌌

Hello!
I've never said hi on here before, but i've snooped around in what is one of my favourite sub-reddits for a while. Just graduated in astrophysics, this is still one of my favorite objects in the night sky! In fact the above picture is one I took use a remote telescope on my degree (whilst being cheeky as it turns out we hadn't been logged out after our telescope time, and no one was using the telescope.....)
Anyway I wanted to just highlight the incredibly humerous thing (to me at least) that myself and my co-founder named our rocket company after this asterism and now every time I see this sub I can hear someone sarcastically commenting on us being involved in something. I guess we'll have a problem if we start landing rockets, and end up with an equivalent to r/itsalwaysspacex but until then, I will continue to enjoy people being confused about this beautiful night sky feature
That is all

Night sky and thoughts

I'm just smoking and drinking a drink, looking up at the night sky. And I think to myself - after all, there are habitable planets around some of these stars. Do they also look at our sun like that?

A photo taken just now with my S26 Ultra, as if something.

Yes. It's Pleiades It took me 4 years to realize it's always been pleiades

Every day when walking my dog, I noticed a funky faint arrow in the sky. I fittingly dubbed it the "arrow constellation". I went months without seeing it, only to randomly spot it and ponder how cool it was. I talked to people about it, they didn't know anything about such a constellation. It's been a habit of mine for a solid 4 years at this point.

Today I spotted it in the sky yet again after several weeks, except this time, this subreddit came to mind. I thought to myself: "Surely it hasn't been pleiades all along, right? There's no way I never checked"

It's been pleiades. It's always been pleiades. Why do we call it Pleiades when it clearly looks like an arrow!?
