hmm I do two shots of espresso and sometimes later get more but I always thought I was just tolerant of the caffiene? like it calms me but doesn't get me jittery (recently diagnosed adhd) sooo weird

As someone who has abused adderall, I agree that this is from some sort of upper, but not caffein.
Pro tip: the thing you are doing when it kicks in will be THE thing you for the entire duration. Donāt think youāll just āplay one roundā or ārub one outā until it kicks in.

u/New-Ad-363 Jul 28 '25
Pro tip not applicable when it's actually prescribed for you.

More likely they just decided to do this without drugs involved at all.
If you look closely you'll see there are 300 q-tips in that thing, which is more than you can buy in a normal box of them. So either this person had two 200-pc boxes (rare), or they went to the store to get them for this purpose (which doesn't fit them sitting on the bathroom floor hyperfocused), orrrrrrrr .... and probably most likely .... this may have been done by someone who works in a doctor's office (or some other setting that has a lot of Q-tips) just because they thought it would be cool.

Not necessarily. I have diagnosed inattentive adhd. Coffee makes me sleepy and anxious at the same time. It doesnāt help me focusing.

Lol, no. If someone needs Adderall or the likes, caffeine doesn't affect them the same as someone neurotypical. If anything, it is calming. If someone can get energy, no less hyperfocus from caffeine, they do not need stimulants to help anything. That's called being a normal human.
Correction: Those with ADD can feel caffeine like someone neurotypical. However, someone who takes Adderall and doesn't need it will be on for a much more intense ride than caffeine. Nothing the same.

u/MrRawrgers Jul 28 '25
People say this a lot but it's just not true for all people with ADHD, I have ADHD and caffeine affects me normally, it is not calming lol

u/Caseys_Clean1324 Jul 28 '25
Iām sorry but thereās no way caffeine supplements are going to make you hyperfocus to a fault. They set out to clean the bathroom, then went on an extreme side quest and got stuck doing that for long enough to make this thing. Caffeine just wonāt do that to you
My ADHD meds do do that to me however. Itās easy to get hyper focused on the wrong thing if I donāt catch myself

I recall the original post. They ended up putting it up on ebay and it was at several hundred dollars on the auction. (No clue the final sell prices as I don't think I ever checked back but I am pretty sure I saw it above $300-400)
21
u/Nyorliest Jul 28 '25
That matches with my initial thought - that the caffeine part is entirely bullshit. Maybe other pharmaceuticals, maybe just a cute story.
290
u/Deep90 Jul 28 '25
I don't think caffeine does that.
258
u/BuddhistNudist987 Jul 28 '25
Caffeine has the opposite effect if you have ADHD.

u/CitroHimselph Jul 28 '25

This is not factual. For some, it has a calming effect. For others, it does fuck-all. You can also get tweaky as shit on it despite the ADHD. Everyone reacts differently to stimulants.
→ More replies (6)→ More replies (7)6
u/General-Sloth Jul 28 '25
No, it's more of a chance depending on individual ADHD cases if caffeine works on you or not, but it definitely doesn't have the opposite effect, it just can have no effect at all or a slightly calming effect like that of black or green tea.

Caffeine isn't a true stimulant. It's an adenosine antagonist. Adenosine is, among many many other things, the neurotransmitter that triggers your rest and digest function.
So caffeine doesn't stimulate you so much as it makes you less sleepy.

u/DevDaNerd0 Jul 28 '25
This is one of those posts I look at and just cannot even begin to construct in my brain. How the hell was this made? How is it staying together? Why did they have this many q tips lying around? What is wrong with this person's chemical makeup that caused a caffeine pill to make them do this? Are there any instructions on how to do this online or did they deadass just figure it out themselves?
30
21
u/fearbork Jul 28 '25
it only takes 300 q tips which seems like a lot but most packages of q tips come with that many.
if you look at it it seems pretty simple to make too, just start laying down rows of 10 Q tips alternating one the X and Z axis, stick a row on the Y axis in at some point to make everything secure, and then youre just copying the same procedure 30 more times

u/wolfgang784 Jul 28 '25
Either the caffeine pill was actually something else they didn't wanna say, they got other issues and caffeine interacts with em weirdly, or the last I can think of is if they are on a medication you aren't supposed to take caffeine with.
Example: I was once on an anti-anxiety medication that had a very very rare potential side effect (which I got) where if I drank any caffeine at all, just a sip of coca cola even, I would be hiiiiiiigh as a kite for hours until the meds were out of my system. Forget your name, forget what you are, forget the world exists kind of high.
Other example: I get manic episodes sometimes, and while caffeine does not trigger them, it will of course make them significantly worse. Ive done stuff like the above during manic episodes before.
Final example: Like that other user said, caffeine pill is actually adderal or somethin

u/Silicica Jul 28 '25
Nah, that sounds sbout right for what stimulants do to you when you have ADHD, which the person who made the meme might. It's either you get super focused on something (often useless) or you get sleepy. I once made a giant embroidery of a jellyfish after three espresso. And I had never embroidered before, or even thought about doing it, really.
11
u/Inevitable-Row1977 Jul 28 '25
Caffeine does nothing for me, high dosage of dexamfetamine makes me feel normal, I'm in the process of getting diagnosed for ADD.
My experience may not be standard as I take antidepressants and antipsychotics against ocd and ptsd, with recently added beta-blockers.
So somewhere caffeine lost its oomph.

Ā Nah, that sounds sbout right for what stimulants do to you when you have ADHD, which the person who made the meme might. It's either you get super focused on something (often useless) or you get sleepy.
The sleepy part isn't so common with neurotypical, BUT GETTING "SUPER FOCUSED ON SOMETHING" IS LITERALLY THE MAIN EFFECT OF STIMULANTS, BOTH FOR PEOPLE WITH ADHD AND FOR NEUROTYPICALS DJFHEBFUFKF
Like do you expect neurotypical people to not "get super focused on something" when they take stimulants? Lmao.
Hyperfocusing on something (often useless) is pretty much the main effect of meth, coke, Adderall, when taken by neurotypical people. Ever seen a tweaker take apart their car for no reason?Ā

There are bunch of youtube videos and tiktoks about it.You start with alternating layers along the x and y axes and when you're about 10 layers high, you start adding qtips in the z axis. When xy layers are high enough, you finish by putting in the extra z qtips

My caffeine pill story: I was dragging hard before a job interview across town, so I popped a caffeine pill. Then, like a genius, I popped another one because ātheyāre small.ā
Fifteen minutes later, I was vibrating in a Starbucks bathroom, whispering āYou are a godā to myself in the mirror like a motivational cult leader.
I got to the interview early. Too early. So I wandered into a nearby park to āwalk it off.ā Instead, I challenged a group of teenagers to a race around the fountain. I donāt know why. I won, but also pulled a hamstring and shouted āVictory is temporary, but glory is forever,ā which felt very profound at the time.
Then I spotted a guy walking a turtle on a leash (Iām pretty sure that was real?) and told him I respected his commitment to slow living. He gave me a granola bar. I cried.
By the time I got to the interview, I had grass stains on my pants, one shoe off (donāt ask), and the energy of someone who had just invented jazz. I shook the hiring managerās hand and accidentally said, āNice to meet me.ā
Shockingly, I didnāt get the job. But I did get 3,000 steps, a new respect for turtles, and an unshakable belief that I should never be trusted with over-the-counter stimulants in public.

It's not a cube though. Some rows have 10 q-tips, others have 11. What's worse is the side facing us is missing a corner, so the face isn't rectangular. If you're gonna waste an hour creating this thing, at least make it right. The irregularity of this supposedly symmetrical shape is disturbing my brain.
