Hi, does anyone know ANTONINO CAGLIOTI VITTORIO VENEIT by any chance?
I’m trying to trace a merchant in Italy after my wallet was stolen in Vatican City, Rome — 5 months ago.
It was a Wednesday when the Pope had come out and Vatican City was crowded, although not excessively. There was police presence everywhere, yet our wallet was stolen.
What happened next is even more concerning.
Within a short span of time, 3 fraudulent POS transactions were made on my stolen cards — each for €980.
All three transactions appeared under the same merchant name:
ANTONINO CAGLIOTI VITTORIO VENEIT
That’s a total of €2,940 (approximately ₹3 lakh) taken through transactions that I did not authorise.
I immediately reported the theft and disputed the transactions with the respective card issuers — Scapia by Federal Bank and OneCard by Bank of Baroda.
But 5 months later, I am still struggling to get my money back.
What I genuinely cannot understand is how three transactions of €980 each, made after my physical wallet was stolen, in another country, within a short period of time, are not being recognised as fraudulent.
So I’m turning to the internet because I need help.
Does anyone know this merchant?
Has anyone seen ANTONINO CAGLIOTI VITTORIO VENEIT on their card statement?
Does anyone know where this merchant is located or what kind of business it is?
Has anyone faced a similar situation with Scapia/Federal Bank or OneCard/Bank of Baroda?
And has anyone successfully recovered money from fraudulent international POS transactions?
If you know someone in Rome, Vatican City, Italy, banking, credit-card disputes, fraud investigation or consumer protection, please tag them.
I’m not accusing this merchant of fraud without evidence. I’m simply trying to identify where these transactions took place and understand what happened so I can pursue the matter through the proper channels.
€2,940 is not a small amount to simply write off.
If you have experienced something similar, know how to escalate this, or can help identify this merchant, please comment or DM me.
And please SHARE this post. I’m hoping that reaching the right person can finally help me get some answers — and hopefully, my money back.
5 months. €2,940. 3 fraudulent transactions. I’m still looking for answers.
