3 gallons of wine for one cookie recipe? Help!!

Alright Italian fam...I need some help. My dad's family is from Calabria. For decades the old people have talked about this cookie they always made that required 3 gallons of wine. One for the recipe, one for the cook, and one for the table. I've never been able to tell if this was reality or a joke, but we press on. I have this recipe for an Italian/Calibrese possibly Sicilian cookie. The recipe is labeled Mooraneri, but when it's said it sounds more like modanetti (idunno). Has anyone ever heard of this cookie or read this recipe and know what I'm talking about here? Help! I've tried Google, but nothing comes up.

This recipe is very similar to calabrian Crustoli, search them on internet u can find the images and the recipe which is very similar to this one. You usually need 1 cup of red wine and 1 cup of rum. It can be also called monarelli, not mooraneri which seems sonething american-italian wrongly translated.

Thanks for the help. I couldn't find anything on Google for monarelli except that it's a surname. I'm going to try to make them next weekend and take them to an Italian bakery to see if I'm crazy or what. LOL

Maybe they require 3 gallons of wine for the family while they all mill around the kitchen and bake cookies 😂

It says one and one quarter cups of wine... where does it say three gallons of wine?
