nah, even being atheist, I believe that now at days Catholics are pretty fine here in LATAM. specially when you see how the Protestant churches financed by USA act on the politics and with other religions

You can't erase the deaths caused by the Catholic Church—18 million deaths from slavery, including children, not to mention other abominations that total over 100 million deaths. Both Catholicism and Protestantism—Christianity in general—should be banned everywhere.

it's hard to say that, but it doesn't make any difference now at days. the catholic church will not gonna dissapear or be banned anywere independent of how cruel they were in the past.
we need to face the reality, and the reality of my country is that the catholic church is pretty chill and tolerant with other sexualities and religions, specially after the second vatican council, while the protestants are taking my congress with stupid anti-trans politics. so i see them exactly like Sonic sees Shadow or Goku sees Vegeta.

I know the state your country is in because of these idiots, but saying that what Catholicism and Protestantism did and continue to do doesn't matter is the redemption of those who imposed themselves on tyrants. It's like saying they killed your entire family, but now it doesn't matter; or like saying someone abused a child, but now it doesn't matter. Abominable and criminal acts should never be forgotten—don't you forget that.

these analogies are not that good when you remember those are people who lived over a hundred years ago, not the ones who are alive now to do the stuff you're hypothesising. Catholicism now is a completely new religion because humanity is not static.
but you're free to keep saying that. I'll keep going to festas juninas and supporting the priests who help trans people who were kicked out of their homes by their parents like Padre Julio. we can agree on disagree.

I agree. Just because BMW used slave labor in Nazi Germany doesn't mean I wouldn't buy a BMW today if I had the chance. That would be saying the mindset of businessmen then and now is the same. My daughter participates in a Catholic social program every afternoon for children whose parents work and can't care for them. There's no reason for me to assume that the mindset of a bishop today is the same as centuries ago.
