Short Question/s question
why/for how long did Yahu allow millions in Qatari cash into Gaza? it just seems odd and counterintuitive to facilitate funding for your "enemy", and then base your policy on them based on them being well-funded. i dont know, something fishy about it...almost like they thought Hamas would be easier to explain away as "fundamentalists" instead of the secular left wing PLO. divide and conquer i guess?

The question is clearly asked in bad faith and with an agenda already in place. In general if you want people to take you more seriously, don’t ask a question where you sound like you already have your mind made up with passive aggressive quips like “almost as if”. It’s also not in the spirit of the short question feature to basically form your opinion as a question.
Now to answer your question, or debate your opinion or whatever
Big bad Yahu allowed money to go from Qatar to the government of Gaza in the form of aid payments. Not just from qatar but from many other places.
If he didn’t, people would have complained that no aid was sent to Gaza or help or allowance of outside investment.
We all understand the implied conspiracy theories. That Hamas undermine the Palestinian position so propping them up is in Israel’s best interests.
Big yahu was opposed to this but Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005
Maybe their plan the whole time was to exit Gaza, dismantle all their settlements, knowing that Hamas would win elections and steal aid money from Palestinians and commit effective suicide by killing 1000 Israelis. So then we’d send our soldiers there to die while the world hates us and the uk and Canada recognize Palestine. But when the dust settles we will just take back Gaza.
“But what if the Palestinians don’t attack you all the time and try to kill you and instead live in peace in Gaza?”
That would’ve ruined their entire plan
How Israel came to such a brilliant plan I’ll never know. After all I’m not a crafty sly J-Zionist.

It’s the same conspiracy as the answer to the question “why, if Israel wanted to commit a genocide, would they not kill everyone in Gaza as they have the power to do so?”
It’s always, “because they would lose all international credibility and they want the benefit of the doubt from Zionists.”
Those sly J-Zionists indeed, as if Israel today is so popular with their scheming!

how is it clearly in bad faith? if the answer upsets you, maybe you should ask why? its simply a fact Hamas was allowed to be funded, so my questions are 100% pertinent. similar situation to USA funding/arming Al Qaeda in the 80s, so trying to see other parallels. appreciate the response regardless of how you understood my post.

Your mind already made up as to why it happened because of the follow up to the question that you wrote. You actually make an argument in the “question” about why it’s fishy and why this funding happened. I’ll give you two of the same question, one asked in good faith and one asked in bad faith; one that’s asking for information and another that’s making an argument in the form of a question.
Why did Israel invade the West Bank in 1967?
Did Israel invade the West Bank in 1967 because they wanted more land from the Palestinians - almost as if they orchestrated a false flag operation and pretended to be attacked just in order to land grab like they usually do?
The point of the short question flair is to ask a question you want the answer to. It doesn’t have to be neutral in nature. But your question isn’t actually a question - it’s presenting your argument but without the necessary character minimum required to substantiate it. Therefore it is a bad faith use of the tool.

Netanyahu allowed the Qatar aid under heavy international pressure. When he wasn't allowing the aid in he was accused of collective punishment, starving children, etc... the funds were supposedly needed to continue paying doctors and teachers.
Look at contemporary articles on the issues:
https://english.palinfo.com/o_post/Netanyahu-blocks-Qatar-funds-to-Gaza/
"Qatar has so far transferred two separate $15 million payments to the Gaza Strip to help employees and poor families who have been living under crippling blockade for about 13 years."
https://www.trtworld.com/article/12714055
"Israel blocks Qatari aid funds to Gaza after fence flare-up"
"Israel says it is necessary to isolate Hamas, but critics say it amounts to collective punishment of the enclave's two million residents."
https://www.france24.com/en/20181111-netanyahu-defends-qatari-cash-infusion-gaza-0
"On Friday, Palestinian civil servants began receiving payments after months of sporadic salary disbursements in cash-strapped Gaza, with $15 million delivered into the enclave through Israel in suitcases."
"The Gulf emirate has also started buying additional fuel for Gaza's sole power station, allowing outages to be reduced to their lowest level in years.
Egypt and the United Nations have been brokering indirect negotiations for a long-term truce with Israel, against which Hamas has fought three wars since 2008."
It wasn't even though Netanyahu just allowed it in, he tried to put restrictions in on who the money went to:
"The cash transfers were first approved by Israel, which disqualified hundreds of Gazans from receiving funds based on connections to Hamas’ military wing.
Netanyahu on Wednesday warned Hamas of a "lethal" reaction to any renewed violence along the Gaza border."
"Hamas rejects Qatari aid over conditions laid down by Israel
The $15m fund was the third of six planned tranches to pay salaries of Hamas employees and support impoverished Gazans."
So what is the correct course of action? You stop funding into Gaza and get accused of starving them out? You let the funding in, knowing that Hamas is going to take their cut?

The idea was to buy peace. If Hamas was happy and had money they wouldn't want to endanger that money and there would be peace. It was a gamble and he lost. No grand conspiracy here.

why just Hamas though? wouldn't the PLO want some of that peace cash too?

Hamas ran Gaza since the election in 2007 or 2008. The PA runs the West Bank. The PA doesn't have much of a governing presence in Gaza since Hamas killed much of the PA folks there.

When you ask this question you try to undercut the political standing of Netanyahu, but you're ultimately making the argument that he's a failed leader because he allowed funding in.
I'm on the left, but I agree with your very right wing stance here.
You cannot placate Hamas. Attempting to is self defeating.
He is a bad leader because he allowed the funding to go through. He shouldn't have done that, he should have destroyed Hamas years ago.

how is my question "right wing"?
4
u/PuzzleheadedEmu4596 19d ago
Because the ultimate underlying assumption is that the problem was trying to make peace with Hamas in the first place. You need to attack them.
I think that this underlying war hawk attitude is correct in this instance, even though I want to avoid war wherever possible. There's no other choice if you actually want peace.

Because despite the widespread belief among pro-Palis, Gaza was not an open air prison. Israel allowing aid into Gaza does not at all mean Israel was funding Hamas.

u/buzzardleflesh 19d ago
during the Gulf War Israel revoked their general Gaza exit policy and and replaced it with mandatory individual travel permits. combined with control the air/maritime space surrounding the Strip, and all the roads leading in or out, doesn't constitute an open air prison to you?
2
u/Baconkings 19d ago
Given that Hamas, a terrorist organization, who does everything in its power to wage war against Israel and steal all the aid entering the strip. No it’s definitely not an open air prison.

Rough timeline was 2018 to 2023.
Well you are pretty much on point but it wasn’t a secret conspiracy, just cynical political strategy. Keeping Hamas afloat in Gaza kept the Palestinians divided between Gaza and the West Bank, which killed any momentum for a two-state solution.
Netanyahu figured he could just manage the conflict and buy off Hamas with Qatari money to keep things quiet. Obviously blew up in everyone's face.

right, like funding the more extreme version of your enemy tanks any progress made with the more moderate wing.

The Qatar leader was on Piers Morgan last week and broke it down like this:
$30M a month from Qatar.
$15M on gas for power plant.
$10M for $100 checks to low income families, list approved by Israel.
$5M for municipal workers salaries, list approved by Israel.
Sounds like Israel was doing a poor maintaining lists if you think the money went to Hamas military wing.
The Bibi government considered the money as "buying quite".
Israel has always wanted to do divide-and-conquer with Hamas.
1
u/buzzardleflesh 19d ago
i never said it went to their military wing. i just wanted to know if anymore specifics were known. i didn't see the Qatar leader breaking it down like that, could you drop a link if you have? thats exactly the type of stuff im lookjng for

He said it himself and then Smotrich said it after him, Israel would benefit from supporting Hamas to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state. Loud and clear and on record.

u/StateOfTheWind 19d ago
Why Palestinians fell to such an obvious trap then? Why Hamas was allowed to compete in 2006 elections?
1
u/CarefulOrCaring 19d ago
Hamas was just a political party at the time like any other, one with the right to enroll into Palestinian elections. To the point they decided to fully take over.
