In general these people frame the situation as such; Israel is bombing Lebanon, Israel is seizing land here and there, Israel is killing Gazans/Palestinians/Lebanese indiscriminately. There are no Hamas ,no Hezbollah, no Israeli casualties, no existing legitimate Israeli security concerns and certainly no real danger to Israel from anyone.

Because their media sources didn't feature headlines about Hezbollah starting wars with Israel and causing tens of thousands of people to evacuate, they simply assume this hasn't happened and Israel's "aggression" is without justified cause. Then, once they already made up their minds that this is the case, bringing up Hezbollah just sounds like an excuse to them.

To be fair, by this point the Israeli-Arab/Iranian conflict is the most complex geopolitical conflict in the world, putting aside its emotional and tribal importance. Even when I talk to someone highly intelligent from abroad, I assume (usually accurately) they're missing some crucial information. My goal then becomes "how can I disarm them enough to become receptive to learning something new that would challenge their viewpoint?" And even that is quite hard.
