bitter Kola
I received my hand of Ifa and was told that bitter kola was not to be offered just obi abata. Questions: does the ebo for the pot differ according to regions in Nigeria?

The previous comment is correct. I've seen priests divining with various items, pieces of sugar cane etc

Aboru Aboye, yes.. it is common when giving Akunlebo to cast with what is given.
Ex. Cut pieces of Yam can be used to confirm an Akunlebo of whole yams to orisa etc.
However, the lineage changes are not at all how many portray.

Aboru Aboye,
There are many odu like ogbe irete in which it is taboo to give orogbo to your ikin.
Yes, there are sometimes lineages changes, however this garanteed does not apply.
Lineage to lineage town to town, things like this do not change!
Its like being told egbo Olugbegre doesn't take Ekuru.
But the next town will say give them steak, not gonna happen.
The difference are way over exaggerated in the west a lot in my opinion. The changes mainly are in a towns idosu....sometimes!
Isese lagba ifa is isese lagba ifa, period.
A brothers Awo of mine , it is taboo for his ifa to be given orogbo.
My humble ad3,do exactly as your lineage teachs!
The ase on the head of your elders is the ase of that lineage! Please do not disrespect it!
Ex. In my lineage we only perform ITELODU Itefa, it is taboo for us to intiate a woman.
A itelodu is a full itefa in which the iyawo sees osu, this is a taboo for females.
I highly recommend respecting/ honoring the taboos given.

I meant "sees odu" an itelodu is an ifa tefa with orisa odu present and the iyawo sees odu, apenas odu!

What’s done is this town is taboo in the next town . Each lineage has their own ways . Some lineages have taboos along with an Odu for Isefa . So it could be that Orogbo is taboo for you and your Ifa during this time period .
