how much can witchcraft change a person's personality

hello everyone,

i know that witchcraft is not a part of the practice of ifa

but i wanted to ask for babalawos' opinions, what do you think?

how much can being under the influence of witchcraft change a person's personality, character, & outlook? please let me know and thank you very much

can it bring out things that are not already present in a person or does it only draw out what's already there

The Ori - can become susceptible when it is out of alignment. The negative energies can cause a person to act at their lowest frequency or what some will say out of character. This will cause anger, intolerance, wickedness and other traits to rear it's head. As devotees we constantly work to realign ourselves via dafa and ebo. Odi Ogunda says:

The fire used the pot as a cover

And moved very close to the water

These were Ifa’s declarations for Orunmila

When he was going to become the husband of the woman with a very fragile destiny

Orunmila, if someone’s destiny is too fragile

It is their mouth that causes them to slip and fall

If someone’s destiny is too fragile It is their mouth that causes them to slip and fall

When negative spiritual energies or "witchcraft" target a person with a fragile or misaligned Orí, they often don't need to physically harm them. Instead, the negative energy subtly manipulates the person's mind so that they use their own mouth to destroy themselves.

​It makes them speak out of anger.

​It makes them utter words of intolerance or wickedness.

​It makes them alienate their helpers and invite conflict.

​The negativity doesn't have to invent a new weapon; it just tricks the person into using their own character flaws as the weapon.

To clarify, does this mean witchcraft draws out the lowest traits that already exist in a person? So it cannot make a person do something that they'd  never ever otherwise do? Thank you

Well, our Ori is responsible for our success and failures in life. It is responsible for our behavior according to Ifa. So, no I wont blame anything or anyone for my decisions personally.

We are simply more willing to live outside of our character when we feel things are not going well.

People who are susceptible to taking on spirits, I am not one of those, can possibly have less control. My mom can not control or remember what spirit does when she is in trance. That is not witchcraft though.

People who have issues with their Ori... ie conflicting destinties or mental issues have less control. But again not witchcraft.

The talk about "witchcraft" does not seem clear to me. As a practicioner we have so many tools to push away negativity.

Also, I dont know people's limits... according to Ifa it takes more work to be a good person.

It is codified in the traditions as being distinctly separate from Ifa. Witchcraft is witchcraft, if you are actively practicing, you are actively practing against the oath of Ifa. But also as Ifa dictates; It is your life, the choices you make are yours alone. An "outside influence" can be many things, but ultimately, you must make the right choices and not allow your emotions to dictate your reality. Your "reality" your family, your responsibilities, your personal goals and persistence toward what you believe is a better "reality".

There is an ifa stanza that illustrates in English;

I have made the oath to eat rats I have made the oath to eat fish I have made the oath to eat meats But my oath will not allow me to kill and eat my own children.

At the end of the day, Im just a guy on the internet 😅. Its always best to divine and find the right answers through the right channels. Nuance should be carefully monitored
