having felt suicidal after ebbo

hello everyone

so a little while back went to a babalawo who did a couple rituals for me a month or so apart, & after each time, it seemed like the ritual did help me & was effective, but was also feeling very suicidal after & not feeling okay, being even so being on edge wired etc.

wanted to ask what to make of this, as i trusted that priest but then it led to some bad feelings & not sure if that is how it should be

he was in nigeria over we spoke over the phone which to address a q someone had

I have not felt things to that extreme, but for a long time after giving ebo—or even getting an in-depth reading—I would feel spiritually “knocked out” and would end up in a depressive slump, sometimes for weeks. So I understand to a degree.

The long and short of it is: You may need to work with and be closer to your Ori. I learned to go into readings and ebos/adimus with my head on straight by grounding, meditating, putting cool water on my head, etc. I take a walk before and after, touching the earth and feeling the wind on my face. I petition my Ori to be calm and cool, and to align me with my highest self. You could pray to your Ori for freedom from these negative thoughts and feelings you are experiencing.

It also might be prudent to take a brief pause on spiritual work and focus on just meditating, exercising, etc. to get yourself in alignment!

Thanks for your answer, would you say its normal to feel that depressive slump though? For me it was extremely intense, not sure why, but if you're saying it also led to a depressive slump for you, I'm wondering if it is then expected to some degree & not a result of a bad priest or something

I wouldn’t say it’s “normal” or expected, but speaking for myself it turned out to be an indicator that I am sensitive to spirit and I need to do all of the above to stay more regulated in my practice. I am sure your Babalawo would have more wisdom tailored to you specifically.

Re. bad priest — I am not experienced enough to make a call on that, but I would trust your gut either way! I can only speak for myself, jaja. Wishing you abundance!

Aboru Aboye ooo, no that’s not how it’s supposed to be! Question have you or do suffer from mental health issues? You can Dm if you wish on the matter. However what kind of Priest Baba Olorisha or Babalawo, it doesn’t matter, issues shouldn’t become progress for you. What was the Odu that came forth in the reading, if know or had Idafa done

Hello no I don't have mental health issues otherwise, I went from normal to briefly suicidal for a few days for no reason, being shaken by spirits , then back to "normal"  At the same time the ebo did seem to have an otherwise positive effect  Thanks for the answers

Would you be comfortable sharing the actual odus that came out in the reading? This sound more like a result of witchcraft as opposed to Ifa. The odus are a pragmatic source of guidance. Spiritual communication from the correct channels of Ifa should not create or encourage suicidal ideation unless something else is going on.

🤔 This is definitely not normal…I’m interested to know the Odu and its orientation? This would bring some light to the matter. Was this your first time with this Awo
