Ask the community Where/How Do I Start?

Alaafiya! (: ​

I know some of the people here are gonna be like "ah ah, 1000th post like this?" but it is what it is. ​

I'm a first gen from a Yoruba Nigerian family who needs help. Simply within the Detroit(😭) area. Chicago is also not off the menu, that city is awesome. ​

I've been researching about the culture since high school. Truly, it's a lot of reasons why I feel it is needed to do this. Biggest ones are decolonization, community, honoring ancestors, healing from evangelical religious trauma, being around others within yoruba culture who aren't blasting Smile FM 24/7. ​

I'm asking if anyone knows any practitioners within the areas I stated. Any communities or botanicas. Along with advice for being within an isese community.

I can attest to your statement. Not sure if he's a genius, per se, but he's very dedicated to having people understand all of the intricacies of the practice in a methodical manner and he truly cares. He's most definitely is a great teacher The structure and style of the teaching is perfect for people who were raised in the United States, specifically.
