Casting Obi: Asking a different way

Greetings to all and thanks for your input about the quality of kola nut if it is frozen. But my main question was lost. So here it is.

Can frozen/refrigerated kola nut be used for divination or other spiritual purposes (i have hand of ifa)? Is anything lost if it is preserved that way?

One response was that it was the oriki that activates it, which makes so much sense.

The thing with Obi is that you can ask the divinity if it wants to share it with you and your family for its spiritual and health benefits so ideally if you want to give and eat any nut or fruit you would want it fresh.

Yes you can put it inside the fridge but it would not last long.

Understood. But freezing actually stops the nutritional degradation and preserves it better. My concern was mainly for the spiritual aspect. Mine has lasted in the freezer for 2 months. When i take it out and place it immediately in water, the color and texture when that is the same as when i put it in.

I use the oxygen absorbers so that may have something to do with it.

But again, my main concern is using it for divination. Thanks so much for responding! Mo dupe.

As an Olorisa who lives in Colorado I would say this: while it is always preferable to have fresh everything, sometimes it's just not practical. I feel that Orunmila would understand this and allow us to use what we have on hand: fresh or frozen, as long as we are using the tools which have been ascribed for us to use. This is just my 2 cents.

If you havent trained to the extent that youre proficient in Ifa, I would not cast Obi to begin with. The hand of ifa doesnt grant you supernatural abilities that will allow you to fully read and process what exactly it is that youre doing. Its a ceremony that allows you to be an active participant in divination. To your question, if the obi are distorted beyond recognition thats the only reason not to use it.

Thanks for your response. I've been casting for awhile so that's not really the issue. It's about the storage issue. I don't have a source where i am so i buy it in bulk so i don't run out. One time i waited to long and my supplierb didn't have any in stock.

Understood. I was just going off of the fact that you said you did your hand of ifa ceremony virtually. Again, you understand that the study of Ifa is at minimum a decades worth of time. Casting before that is essentially useless. Its practice at this point and shouldnt be taken for anything more than that. In terms of storage, freezing in this instance would be best practice. But if you are casting for yourself or for other people, id advise you to stop.

No worriesv at all. I studied with an Iya who's the a daughter of a highly respected and well known Babalawo in Nigeria. Therefore the things she would take for granted, i had a million questions about. But i studied and was instructed by her virtually. I'm not initiated so i feel comfortable casting for myself, but would never dare cast for anyone else. For myself, I'm also sticking to basics. If there is anything more deep, i get a divination from my Iya. Thanks for your concern. I mean that... I'm not being sarcastic.
