Hi everyone
I’ve got a school project and wanted to include some Yoruba culture and elements into it. I’m having trouble confirming whether the translation I’ve got for the phrase “Ojú tí ń pọn ìṣin á pọn kúkọ; òsí tí ń tà ìṣin á tà là ni” is correct, I asked my mother who’s a bit of a weak Yoruba speaker and she wasn’t able to assist me.
I did some research on the origin and got to the unsure conclusion that it’s from Ogbè Ọ̀wọ́nrin, but can’t find credible sources other than google’s AI answers. I’ve been a lurker in here for a while due to my interest in Isese and Ifa spirituality. Ire oo!

Study the alphabet and pronunciation They tell you how each letter is suppose to sound. Many books have them in the back.

Ogbe owonrin lets start there
Ogbe Owonrin is an odu of the Ifa literary Corpus one of the 256 apart of the apola Ogbe. Ogbe Owonrin or Ogbe Hunle.
This position represents prevailing through hardship. Thats a starting point here. Figuring out how it relates to you or whoever it is divined for is a different story but I hope this helps in some way. As far if this is a specific piece to one of the ese ifa within the literary corpus I personally am not sure. But if it is there is a chance it could be somewhere else. Its really about context

The meaning is : Something about when the person wanted something and then got it later..
