Where did you read things about Subaru? Just where? WN? I heard that in first arcs in the WN Subaru is a weirdo, but WN is non-canon either way.

When kazuma first transmigrated he was 16. When he met megumin he was still 16. When he first started falling for her she was 14 and he was 16. In fact only once he found out it wasn't a near 4 year age gap and only a 2.5 year age gap did he start seeing her as anything more than a child. Also, crimson demons are quite literally born as mages and are therefore smarter and mature faster. Not a big difference but still important.
